Silly money but according to something I heard on the radio, it's all to do with the big teams needing English players before next season when new rules kick in for the Champions league, then they can only spend a proportion of the revenue on new signings. This transfer window will see a lot of the best young English talent sold to the big teams and will probably be the biggest total sum spent ever.
Blackburns Phil Jones to Manu U, Charlton defender Carl Jenkinson to Arsenal, Sunderland midfielder Jordan Rhodes to Liverpool and a few more are in the offing.
What with Rio being susceptible to the odd injury and Jonny Evans either not up to the task/injured looks a good signing even though it is a lot of dosh
