Theyve already agreed to pay it. Just a question of where the player wants2go (would only be that amount with several add-ons)

Dave McIntyre tweet about an hour ago when someone asked him about it

£4m is way over the odds for a at best Championship player, to be honest the rubbish Norwich have spent £10m on shows how inflated the transfer market has become

Norwich must be out of the running having already bought two expensive strikers to add to the couple of half decent ones they already have. Wigan look as if they could lose their manager. And although Everton might think that Beckford worked out for them I'm not sure CMS is quite good enough for them. I know we are all desperate to sign someone - anyone - but this is one of those rare cases where the club is right to bide its time: a month or so on if no one has come in for him he might be a lot cheaper. And if we miss out, are you really that fussed? I'm not.

totally agree. 4m is way too much. Let's save the money (if we are going to spend any).

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has dismissed reports claiming Wigan have made an offer for Craig Mackail-Smith.
The newly-promoted Championship outfit have so far only accepted one bid from an unnamed Premier League club for their star striker, who is set to leave London Road this summer.
Wigan, QPR, Newcastle and Norwich have all been linked to the 27-year old`s services, but Posh chief MacAnthony insists the Latics are yet to register an offer.
Using his Twitter account, MacAnthony wrote: "Keep hearing Wigan in for Craig but no bid as of yet. They better hurry up to be honest."
Mackail-Smith has held talks with the one mystery club to have had a bid accepted but is currently considering his options.

well if it is us who has made the offer and he is dithering he can go forth as far as I'm concerned

Craig Mackail-Smith may have just got Peterborough promoted back into the Championship but it looks as though he will be playing Premier League football next season. BBC Sports reports suggest that Peterborough have accepted an offer from a top division club, believed to be Wigan Athletic.

The Latics are not his only admirers however, with reports linking him with a move to Everton and newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers. Mackail-Smith has made his desire to move on obvious earlier in the season after interest from Norwich City who are also still believed to be considering making a bid for the player. The 35 Goal scoring machine received a first call-up to the Scotland squad and after making the jump to International level, he has now set his sights on the Premier League.

“I want to play at the highest level I can attain and I want to play in the Premier League,” he told BBC Sport.

“I’d love to have the chance to sit down and see which club has the best philosophy and ability to nurture me.”

The Posh striker would do well in the Wigan set up as Roberto Martinez promotes a style of football that enhances the ability of all who play under him. It is unlikely that Everton would lodge a bid for another inexperienced striker at the highest level after picking up Jermaine Beckford last summer. The Latics may be favourites to acquire the striker’s services but it wouldn’t be a surprise if a bidding war sparked up this summer.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony told BBC Sport: “At the moment there is anywhere between eight and 11 clubs involved.

“We’ve got two concrete offers and when you get into an auction you always try and push those offers up.”

With such a rife amount of interest it could just go down to the highest bidder at the end of the day instead of ‘which club has the best philosophy’. Obviously, it isn’t going to end up with £10Million offers flying around but QPR look best suited to offering the best financial package.

Odds are that whoever out of these supposed 11 clubs offers just over £4Million could soon have a prolific striker on their books.

Above would seem to suggest that we have had a 4m bid accepted. In my view, we must have also big the 3.5m for graham but as warnock said, he went for the 'safer option'. I'd be happy with this guys but think 4m is a bit too much and I also hop we sign a better striker like dj campbell and/or someone like keane on loan. Love the fact that we're viewed as team likely to offer best financial package!

4 million is an absolute joke ....

How can he be more expensive than Danny Graham.....(and he was overpriced)

Let's look elsewhere, especially abroad for the players we need.. Same old names keep churning up.

Let's see what else is out there.

4 mill for CMS has panic buy written all over it ....

£4m probably spread over 10 years and if he scores 30 goals for Scotland, but still. We could ket Doyle, Fuller, the Arsenal striker we were linked with, ie someone proven for that.
