Briatore and Ecclestone won't splash the cash at QPR this summer

FLAVIO Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone are playing hardball over the new playing budget in the hope they can get away with less than £12million on summer transfers.

The pair were hoping to sell their ruling interest to billionaire shareholder Lakshmi Mittal for around £45million last week.

However, it’s understood the father-in-law of Amit Bhatia, who resigned as vice chair in disgust at the hike in season-ticket prices, offered less than £30million to take control.

The source said: "After the recent upheaval with Amit, it could be the owners think they are on their own with funding the new campaign, and they don’t want debts to mount up."

we need several new players, which cost at least 3 million each

I'd say it's all lazy, made up journalism. The story changes every week. I've seen the valuation of the offer range from £20-50m, and the asking price up to as much as £100m.

The fact is, no one except for the board, and their closest know the score.

So looks like we are going down then if we keep the same squad. I would have rather taken longer to get promoted which would have hopefully meant the clowns Bernie, Flav and Gianni to f off and lead the Mittals to run the club in the prem.

Or...they could just be boxing clever.

They hardly want to announce that we are going to spend sh.t loads of money are they....First thing that will happen is that a 2 millions pound player will be bumped up to 5 mill just because of who we are..Clubs out there are going to try and extort as much money from us as possible...Seems like a sreasonable good statement to me....if they are playing clever...if they are not ...well thats another subject.

See...And here we go. Over reaction from a silly article.

No one knows the budget, nor the real valuation/offers being made.

            All hearsay.

            Calm down.

Well. I see that rather a positive article if true:

Approx £12 million to spend? Yes Please

Bernie and the Mittals wrangling over £15 million in the middle? Looks like a deal is on the cards.

This is going to happen now for next 2 months. We have been linked with nearly 55 players and 10 managers already....just let it go over your heads..

Yeah, but this is Warburton who has frequently been in the past a mouthpiece for someone at the club......

£12 million is more than I thought they would spend!

I agree though that this article is pure speculation, nobody outside the club knows this information!

I thought we would have a max of £15m to spend on new players, so £12M is not that bad and I can see why people who thought we would spend, spend and spend somemore would be cheesed off with this amount, but if Burnley and Blackpool can do, our tight owners will want QPR FC to do it and they have said as much.

Could be a wonderful piece of spin which may help to negiote better deals for incoming players....but for the doom mongers it may not

Maverick, good to see a sensible poster for a change. If these facts are really true, which we don't know of course, it is great news, particularly in terms of change of ownership.
