I dont see where all of this positivity is coming from tbh, and the notion that we only need a couple of additions to the sqaud is laughable.
Our Defensive record LAST SEASON was solid...for the first time in god knows how many years. Who's to say Stewart will be as composed and focused next season under Magilton? Is Connolly really THAT good? I think he's a solid player and am not suggesting he is pants, but to suggest he could cut it in the Prem this early is laughable. And yes Gorkks was outstanding for the latter part of the season under guidance from SOUSA, who was in his day a world class defender. And are people still forgetting we have the likes of Ramage and Delaney in contention for the respective LB and RB positions?
Our midfield on paper is awesome. Shame games arent won on paper and the reality is our midfield was poor last season. Cook was pretty much a disaster, and as far as im concerned will never be the player he once was. Routledge is a player who has all the potential in the world, but never looked interested and never really delivered in my eyes, although you could argue he was always marked out of the game. Vine and Buszaky hardly played any football last season and yet people expect them to perform like they did in the previous seasons? They may very well do, but the fact remains that they've both pretty much gone a whole season without playing competitive football.
Rowlands on his day is fantastic, which was a rare occurance last season as some people seem to be forgetting. Before his injury he was poor, although he always seems to have 1 good season followed by a bad one, and lets hope last season was his bad season! Mahon, Legs and Hogan are all very MEH in my opinion. The only 2 decent midfielders we actually had last season arent even ours! And thats Lopez and Tarrabat. With those 2, and everybody else pulling their finger out, then we MAY have a decent midfield next season. I just think to many of you get blinded by the names on paper sometimes.
