I was speaking to a friend of mine (Chelsea ST holder, yeah I know what your thinking) but he had a good point re our season ticket rises. Apart from in answer to the disgust most of us are having re the prices saying 'Welcome to the prem what did you expect (and that he pays £300 more than what I am worrying about) he also said well the increase will not only be because of who you have in your team, you are paying to see a better class of opponent and world class players. Used a crazy analogy but I get what he meant, and said if Crawley for example were playing Barcelona, Crawley fans would obviously expect to pay more to see the likes of Messi, Iniesta etc.

Not siding with Bernie and Flav but maybe that's what they were trying to put across in our whole 'Match Day experience' that it's not all about us (even though we would like it to be).

And I agree with you totally, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are some of the best sides in Europe, have been since 97, even spurs beat both Milan teams, different if you were talking about celtic/glasgow rangers. When I said this, people said, well, we still have to play bolton, blackburn, etc. well you can't expect to play arsenal every week.

Our tickets are also to see our team compete and not just how good the other teams are.

Obviously that goes without saying but, the day Barcelona used our pitch to train i would have paid to see, so the draw the opposition and their players have is a major factor.

So you would pay Say 750.00 (Upper Loft) to see them play 19 games.

If your answer is yes you are supporting the wrong team.

I will pay a one off to see Arsenal on any eye pleasing team but for 750.00 i will only see say 4 to 5 top teams at our ground others will be mid teams.

If our owners get some decent players i have no problem paying that much money but if not in my mind it is too much, but i will pay regardless and not buy a single item from the QPR shop all year.

In a way, us fans are nearly paying for 2 seats. Our stadium holds about 19,000, x that by 2, and the owners will be bringing in the amount of money a 38000 seater stadium would bring in. They dont care about us fans, there just businessman looking to make profit

I am not even talking 10m players as things are looking we are not even competing for 3 to 4 mil players.

one other thing we are due 40m from Prem and sky so some of that needs to be spent on better players or one year and could end up back in the championship and fear we will never get back up again.

But pete, they are only loaning us the money, if they want good gate's build a bigger stadium so's we can compete with average prem clubs.

Staying at Loftus rd and charging chelsea prices is suicide for the club, we will never be able to sustain a place in the prem as it stands.

LR is one of the smallest grounds in the championship never mind the prem.

No forsight at this club, not since the days of jim Gregory.

If the owners want us to compete and stay, then have some balls and build a stadium fit for the prem.

i think for gold, its £40 a game approx...seems ok
but it was the spin around the issue of prices and delay that gets me....

WE KNOW fulham, reading and norwich are cheaper
and the prices touted by the club are among the elite.....

chelsea fans can say what they like, they have a proven team with experienced players ( maybe ex world cup winners and euro nations winners)
WE'LL have no one near that ability or experience...WE'LL have bowyer or someone, there's the difference.
also loftus rd is small, no leg room, poor sight lines...but has a great atmosphere, easy to get to and should be easily filled.

Firstly, the original point isn't a great one I'm afraid. The original rise in season ticket prices any club goes through is not because the team are meant to become drastically better, its because of the higher step up in opposition. Also you buy tickets to support our team but also for entertainment, thats what football is meant to provide, as someone pointed out, being 3 down at half time and arsenal passing it amongst themselves, while maybe looking good on the eye, is not entertainment.

Second point, Pete unfortunately loans are not the way forward, the way they can only realistically look to make money is through the sale of merchandise, sponsorship and other at the moment smaller revenue streams and try and bulk them up. Also TV money is the big one, the "£90 million match" is named it for no reason so there are ways money can be spent without it being massively lost but realistically, only after a few years of stability can genuine finances start to accumulate at the club and to do so, a chance has to be taken to get the players to secure survival in the first place. It also requires a passionate owner(s), i.e. Ambromovich who are willing to take a chance for something they enjoy and not necessarily looking to make a profit at every opportunity. Someone once said, can't remember who: "investing in football is not a money-making scheme, its a hobby"

So are flav and bernie sort sighted idiots? the basic fundementals of football finance have not changed in the last 4 years but when they came in they said they were going not just for promotion but for the champions league, have they lost their business plan and can no longer remember how they planned to do it?
