Goodness me , the nature of this board seems to represent so very much of where the fans , the board and the club are all at.
Let me start out by saying that I started off on message boards with dot org and whilst I read this board also decided to just post on the one . Thus up until recently have never posted on here and have always been bemused by the angst that can exist between dot org , this and other sites which I follow such as report , Indy Rs, Report etc.
I write this but because the frustration in this thread mirrors the frustration that all of us feel right now regardless of what messageboards we frequent , what positions we take on the Mittals, BE , FB , GP , season tickets etc because inherent in all of it is that we know that at what should be a time of great celebration , something is very wrong here , and as with the season ticket issue we can all argue about then about extents.
As a lifelong fan these boards do provide an invaluable service as it keep me in touch with the club in a far better way even though I am in the US now.
Pete is part of this service , yet he is an easy person to attack as for many he is a stool pigeon of GP etc and with all the vitriol that this site then becomes just a messageboard for such powers. I disagree with Pete on many points but cannot believe how this one thread is being used to just badger him on the comments of Finney ( a fan who on the vast majority of issues I do tend to agree with.) Reading one thread it seems that whatever answer Pete gives ( or may not give ) it will not suffice or satisfy.
In looking at recent events which to many, if not most , appear again tawdy and shambolic , then we now as fans appear just as much of a cluster. So many of us are generally barking at the moon right now , fearful that the club we love is messing it up. Messageboards are thus mirroring this volatile mix of views .
With all the various boards , all the anger , all the thoughts , all of the opinions, it is remarkable how there is no one place that disgruntled fans can go to , no place to organize against such recent actions. If nothing else comes of this I do hope that one such place , site does evolve ( much in the same way as I hope reports site also encompasses a LSA for the USA )
I do hope that genuine organization once again evolves for the disgruntled fan be it QPR 1st , WE ARE ... Indy , whatever it may be. Much like the " Love United Hate Glazer " campaign it is clear that much the same position is being taken by many and needs a similar organized response.
Thousands of miles away I cannot vote with my feet , I have no season ticket to non renew but this does not make me any less passionate as a fan in fact it may make me more so as it identifies me over here, it identifies, me my Dad and my two young boys to our roots back in Acton / White City.
Today I did all I could do writing a long letter to complain about the running of this club and this weeks events . For some time I have also followed the fortunes of FC United and have marvelled at how the running of such clubs flies in the face of modern day football and finances , to the point that I adopted them as somewhat of my second team. So in light of everything I offered my support financially by becoming a member , a shareholder.
Here is hoping that rather than just arguing , some effective campaign and medium can be launched , so that our voices of disent can be heard.
