  • A time for calm

Have been out tonight and read through page after page of anger, some of it hysterical.

I share the disappointment of fans that the Mittels haven't taken over. But can I just (tin had time) make a few points:

    1) Everyone seems to think it is nailed on Warnock will go. Ecclestone has already said Warnock's job is 100% guaranteed. Yes we all know Tango man's potential to cause mayhem but it hasn't happened yet so let us not jump to conclusions. As a business we are a little less piddly than we were and Bernie is unlikely to let Flavio run wild as before.

    2) Amit has stepped down from the board but the Mittels still own a third of the shares. Something tells me we haven't heard the last of this negotiation. I said all along but no one would listen there was never going to be a resolution to this boardroom wrangle in a couple of days.

    3) As I understand it Ecclestone and even Flavio were putting up a lot of money for transfers etc so not sure that this will necessarily hit budgets.

    4) Re season tickets it was widely reported last week that prices would go up by 35%. OK, so now its 40% which is a lot but what were you expecting: I for one was always expecting something at least in this ball park (ie up by at least a quarter).

    5) For all the frustrations of Bernie and Flavio thanks primarily to them we are in a hugely better place than we were.

Lets just be calm and see what happens. I'm far from optimistic and think it could well unravel but so far we simply don't know. And it wouldn't be QPR if it all went smoothly...

I've been out all day today and didn't know anything about any of this until 9pm tonight. To be honest, I wish I had gone out today and not come back until August. If this is how things are just two weeks after our long-awaited promotion (the only one without a parade) then it's going to be the longest summer of our lives.

I fear this is just the start of the never-ending circus that is QPR. I would say "Roll up, roll up. Get your tickets here" but no one seems to be able to afford them anymore. My shirts, flags and badges etc are all back in the dark wardrobe of shame.

Just one of my many fears. Especially if Paul Hart - or someone like him - gets appointed manager. Isn't he the man who always gets appointed for a relegation dogfight?

I'm not calm. Not because of a 40% rise in S/T prices but because of a 90% rise in the matchday ticket prices, which is, frankly, outrageous and will result in attendances of around 11,000 for the less attractive matches. Embarrassing for the club.

These 2 tacky little f*ckers suit the Premier League down to a tee.

All the stick aimed at them and "The Club" can equally be aimed at football in general today. Cheap men with big money.

Profile, cash, greed, egos, media hype, global exposure. F*ck the paying fans.. it's all about parading and preening themselves on "the big stage" and using traditional institutions (football clubs) as ****-extentions.

Welcome to The Barclays Premier League.

Absolutely. Football in general is a shallow and vacuous machine that's lost sight of any values it may once have had. Our owners are just intrinsic of the current football era.

What's worse is that the actions of these pond dwellers will encourage and justify people's already poor behaviour in the stands. First bad performance and the boos will reign down from our fans with high ticket prices used as reason and justification.

              Sad day.

90%, for matchday? Really? That is ridiculous, if that is true, boycott all home games until they lower it. 40% season is unfortunate but to be expected, you're seeing Man U, not the likes of scunthorpe (ugh-4-1) :rage:

The current walk-up price for a gold seat in Ellerslie: £30

My understanding is that this now rises to £58 (based in the saving over buying individual tickets mentioned in the season ticket pricing.

                  So that's a 93% increase, right?

I accept that Premier League football is a better 'product'. But is QPR vs. Wigan really 93% better than QPR vs. Cardiff? No. Nothing like. I can afford it, but I don't think I want to go along with this. This is just an attempt to mug people off. I daresay I'll be replaced by someone in a Barbour jacket who usually watches the rugger at Twickers but fancies the odd day of slumming it at QPR. Bye bye, QPR. It was nice knowing you for 35+ years and following in the footsteps of 3 previous generations of my family. I was going to bring my son up as a QPR fan too. Don't think I'll bother. Why bring him into a club that treats his dad with such obvious contempt?

yeah, I'd round it off to a 100% increase
and I see your point about wigan and bolton, etc
but you need to calm down, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, some guys , like van hoop, will pay for ST's, and if you don't want to see wigan et al, well make some money back, give it to someone who will, who doesn't have an ST. Matchday is so expensive, they would love to use your ST. I mean, they can use your ticket can't they? there's no ID or anything, right?

I don't need to calm down. I won't be able to get an ST. I didn't have one last season. The club is only going to sell few hundred more than were sold last season. Demand will outstrip supply because a few THOUSAND members who didn't have season tickets will be in the mix for a few HUNDRED tickets. I don't think I should then either have to pay almost double last season's prices or resort to some chaotic ruse to borrow someone else's ST. I just won't be going. This isn't about the practicalities. It's about principles. Plenty of people who didn't have a season ticket last season had good reasons for that but are still loyal supporters. They are going to be charged double, i.e. MUGGED OFF. I won't condemn anyone else for going along with it, but I'm not going to. It just doesn't feel right. I will return to QPR when one of the following happens:

                      1) the price of walk up tickets comes back to the level of, say, 40% higher than 2010-11 prices

                      2) I earn 95% more than I do now

I don't think either of those will ever happen, so it's probably the end of the line for me with QPR.
