  • Time to move ground...

Have to say, to an element I can kind of understand the price rise. The owners want to be competitive yet we are really restrained in our revenue with only 18k seats to sell. I look at Norwich and they have capped their Season tickets on 21k which is an increable amount of season tickets to be sold. I do believe however if the prices were right we'd easily sell 15,000 in the premiership.

The fact that people are dishing out £1000 to sit in platinum which now does not even have a bar is crazy. The facilites for the prices fans are paying is dreadful and what worries me is the situation doesn't even look like changing. Only the other day Norwich announced that if they stay up they will revamp the whole of the main stand greatly increasing capacity. Us on the other hand seem quite happy to be stuck in a small, dated ground which offers no potential for the growth of the club, both financially and suppoter wise.

For me I would really love to see us invest in a stadium just like Reading that will not only allow us to reduce average ticket price(due to increased capacity) but will also allow the club to have more income streams from things such as hospitality streams on non matchdays. Can't see it happening though

the problem is with the potential match day prices - we won't sell 18,000 seats for the Wigans, Sunderlands, Norwich etc as people will be priced out.

Next season with the lowest price being £47 we wont be getting close to selling out games like Wigan. Its crazy prices. But I have no doubts priced right, we would easily sell 24/25000 in the prem.

I find this post quote naive, you seem to think a new ground or increasing the stadiium capacity will result in a drop in prices....dream on.

More seats will just mean more fans can be charged top dollar, you'll pay the same/more regardless. The last thing I want is this to happen as the ***** will probably pass the costs onto us in future season ticket prices.

25000 people paying an average of £37 is equal to £9,250,000

18000 people paying an average of £47 is equal to £8,460,000

Now whether or not we would sell 25,000 for 37 quid lowest adult ticket is up for debate but the fact is more people would come (and we will sell out against chelsea, united, city ect) which in turn would lead to greater income from merchandise and food amongst other things. I appreciate were your coming from but I think its quite a short term view. The demand will be there in the Premiership if the prices are right.

Maybe I talk for myself but I'm fed up of Loftus Road's poor facilties with pillars, massive ques for food at halftime, no legroom and no chance of going to the toilet at half time.

For the prices we will be charged the facilities are dreadful. To go to the next stage as a club we need to leave the dump behind. While it may seem costly in the short term, long term it is exactly what the club needs.

ground size is NO EXCUSE for the price hikes. Disgrace, but I posted my whinge in another thread, so won't bore people again.

If the club build a 25k stadium you think they would do it to raise an extra £75k in revenue per match...as I said very naive.

                Try £47 x 25000 = £1,175,000 per match

Try moving the decimal place James btw....the youth of today

Supply and demand. Low capacity, high demand=high prices. Afraid its the way the world works.

No it isn't James. Liverpool have a massive waiting list - they have the demand that we only think we have.

They could double their prices. Have they? No. Did they last year, or the years before...no.

Why is that? It is because there is more to football than just exploiting the fans. Unfortunately our owners are not football people and don't understand the fans or care about them.

Maybe that is why Liverpool are more likely to remain a big club and we are never going to get there.

Read it off my calculator, I appologise however I am certinaly no youth.

Its not Naive. As scarlet said-facilites at Loftus Road are dire and prices we are paying for them aren't equal. By moving we will look after the long term future of the club and also increase our average attendance making us more attractive to better players ect.

What do you want us to do in the future may I ask? Stay at little Loftus Road with out 15k average capacity and crap facilities? Theres a reason why most clubs have moved ground in the last 20/30 years.

Yes but Liverpool have 40,000 seats to sell. We have 18,000. Our owners are just trying to help us be competitve by increasing the revenue streams. As I said I can kind of understand that, just by moving it will give us more potential to charge lower prices.

...you missed the point so entirely I don't know why I am bothering to follow it up.

The point is Liverpool could sell far more tickets and charge double VERY EASILY and chose not to.

We are not going to be more competitive.

QPR are a small club, it's about time people realised that. There is a reason we have sold out only a few times in the last 5 years.

We cannot compete with Arsenal and Utd unless we have a rich benefactor, like Chelsea and City. So a ticket increase is not goimg to make us challenge.
