  • As things stand

We are the third worst team in the Premier League. We are better than Norwich and we are also significantly better than either Swansea or Reading (whichever is promoted).

But its bad news for us that Blackpool went down (even ignoring the affection many of us feel for Olly). Because it also shows that for all Blackpool's heroics you can't actually do premiership survial on the cheap: so much for "the Blackpool model".

If we are to match Warno's ambition of finishing 17th then we have to build a better squad than the clubs that just avoided relegation. Man for man they both have better squads than us at the moment. We for instance have been linked with Jason Roberts - well he is only a bit part player for them and they still only just stayed up.

Nothing to panic about at this very early stage - just saying it raises the bar for us just a little bit further.

I think it says more about open, attacking football, compared to tight, park the bus football more than anything. You cannot expose your team to counter attacks in the Prem, because those guys are blazing fast. Let THEM attack and then we counterattack. Ollie, bless him, got it backwards.

Probably fair, though with Ollie and Blackpool he had very little to lose. Nobody expected them to go up and everybody expected them to go down. With us there will be a lot more pressure. Agree we have to be far tighter but unless we buy some defenders like Basong (almost certainly unrealistic) then I'm not confident we can shut up shop for 90 minutes. We are also going to offer something going forward. As for finishing 14th, I love the optimism but not sure some fans appreciate what a tough slog this season could shape up to be.
