Hilarious when Warno is quoted as saying he hopes to have a budgeet of a bit more than just £2m. That barely buys you a packet of Smarties in the Prem and here we are being linked to a player for 12m Euros. Where do they get these rumours from?

diggJuventus still refuse to meet Liverpool's asking price for Alberto Aquilani - even after a discount.

Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia has returned from England after successfully talking down Liverpool's valuation from €16 million to €12 million.

But it is still not enough for Juve.

AC Milan are monitoring developments, while Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is also keeping tabs on the situation.

A surprise move could come from QPR, where chairman Gianni Paladini knows all about Aquilani's qualities.

I'm not one for getting into the GP arguments but

Aquilani wouldn't get through a medical. His knees are battered.

£2m, you'd be lucky if you had change from that after just watching us for a season in the Prem.

Don't shoot the messenger - just reporting what it says in the Standard. Think interview has been posted on here earlier where he said at Sheff Utd he only had £2m to spend in the prem; this time he will need more if he is to make a go of it but it is still going to be about finding bargains. By the sounds of it that sounds like a budget well south of £5m. To my mind a real challenge to keep us in the prem with that given the major weaknesses in our squad but guess we just have to hope the board knows what its doing.
