Seen him a few times and although he does score goals his control and touch lets him down. Runs with his head down and is little aware of whats going on around him. Not as good as Simone Jackson IMHO of what I have seen.

I wanted QPR to bid for him before he went to Norwich. He is young(ish), fast and aware of players around him.

Mackail Smith isn't worth more than Charlie Austin who went to Burnley for around £1.3m ish IIRC (Injured soon after the move)

id be very concerned if we were in the market for 26 year olds who needed coaching. nugent has played and scored for england at full level is available for less money and im not sure hes prem class but id take him over mackail smith all day.

1st div coaching is not the same as champ/prem coaching. As you move up the divisions, it becomes more scientific and technical. Also, different club coaches have different ideas, so he is maybe young enough to be 'moulded' to suit us.

My Burnley mate was not impressed with Austin in the games played before getting injured. He thought he lacked mobility and speed. You never know though, a full pre-season under his belt and more time to bed in and he might come good.

These League One players are a tad hit and miss. Simon Cox has only just scored his first Premiership goal and Beckford only got nine in the league. £3m for Mackail Smith is a big price tag for basically a gamble
