Ok starting from the game at ****ford last week that started this chain of events. An amazing feeling to get promoted there especially as they have been one of our bogey teams recently. I went crazy for a few hours then the reality of the Faurlin tribunal started to haunt me again. From sunday until mid-day today i've been a nervous wreck. The more the week went on the more nervous i got especially after that idiot Mark Palios's comments. My wife and kids have hated me this week cos i've been so grumpy but hey they just don't understand what I and thousands of Rangers fans have been through this week. I couldn't get a ticket for the game today so had to settle for watching on the BBC. Tuning into the game i couldn't believe the news that we wouldn't be getting a points reduction. It felt like the whole world had been lifted off my shoulders. I can't ever remember a feeling of relief and elation like that moment ever.
Then 30 seconds after kick off i was rocketed into cuckoo land after our goal. Just prior to kick off my brother, his wife and their daughter turned up and all of them hate football. Now ive lost my voice due to a bad cold this last week but when we scored i just jumped up ran round the tv room twice trying to scream then ran out the front door down the drive and back again trying my best to let out all the built up anxiety. My sister-in-law had a look of sheer disbelief on her face and my brother and niece called me a complete idiot but hey i couldn't give a sh*t the built up anxiety just took over me and i went crazy. In the end i didn't care we lost the game cos after the last week the relief of no points deduction was the best present ever.
Now as a Rangers fan for 39 years we've had fook all to celebrate apart from the odd few moments. The oh so nearly brilliant 75 team that should have won the old Division 1, the Venables team that got to the cup final and won promotion in 82-83, the team that got to the milk cup final in 1986 and badly let us down to Oxford. Then the new years day massacre of Man Ure at Old Trafford and the pride of being Londons top team in the early 90's. From then on it's been pretty depressing since we were relegated in 1996. The hope of bouncing straight back soon disappeared until we plunged into the depths of darkness and relegation into division 1. I have to admit at that point i had nightmares we were gonna fall straight through into the non leagues.
I feel sorry for the younger generations of R's fans who've had little to shout about over the last years but today was a day for young and old Rangers fans to sample the feel good factor again. Happy days boys n girls cos we are back!!!! Ok we may come straight back down again but i don't care cos we're there and as long as we give it our best then i will be so proud. For the younger R's i'm so glad we have had Taarbs this season but i only wish you could have seen Stan "the man" Bowles. For me the greatest English player ever . . . period!!! Not only was he a superb team player but he would quite often dribble round a man and sit him on the seat of his pants then wait till he got up and do the same to him again. So this week were crowned Champions which also coincides with release of the official DVD of the legendary 1975-76 team on DVD. What a week oh what a week. I just hope there's plenty of good clips of Stan on there.
To all R's this surely is the best and most turbulent week of our lives. Cheers to you all
