  • Do you think the club will appeal the fine?

On principle do you think the club will appeal the fine, and to rub the FA's noses in it to embarrass them even further?

...Have we actually broken any rules or is this just a token attempt at face-saving by the FA?

    Beer for thought...

Only on the principle that having c**ked up once we want to see if we can do it better c**k up by appealing. Or on the principle we want to give more of the fans money away to the FA. You go to the Appeal Board process, then they have right to increase the fines, the facts wont change.

As for breaking rules, yes we did, used an agent that was not authorised and by bringing the game into dispute.

My Pro Bono advice is don't go there, so kill this idea off now.

Could we not appeal (and go to court) on the basis that the FA Rule that (in effect) insists that English football clubs only make contracts with UK registered agents is discriminatory and at odds with EU directives on free movement of services, as long as the agent is registered with an equivilent body within the EU?

If that is in fact the case, WHO at the club do you think is culpable for that, and should he be disciplined/dismissed?

No, I have answered this before. There are plenty of examples in the so called professional areas take doctors and lawyers for instance where you have to qualify or register with the body in the country that you intend to work. The FA does not reject any agent from registering as long as they have sat and been authorised in another jurisdiction and that it was a FIFA set exam. The rule is there to shine a dim torch in a murky and shady world.

Not for me to say and it would be pure speculation that it was a culpable act, it may be a non-culpable act. Time to put the FA bit behind and move on.

It is a matter for the Board to review and decide and they wont be inviting me for my tuppence worth.

Ok - so what does this ACTUALLY mean and to what does it refer?
My opinion is that it relates to telling everyone that we paid £3.5 million for AF when it was only £600K. So why haven't other clubs been charged with similar- cos I am sure we aren't the first.

I think this WILL run further.

I think we'll appeal. What have we got to lose ?
                Everything to gain.

The use of an unauthorised agent has been punished by a £75000 fine. Iam struggling to understand what we have done to bring the game into disrepute in respect of the FA charges? Given the total mess the FA have made of this whole issue, I could well have understood the club perhaps accusing the FA of bringing the game into disrepute.

I don't and wont accept that a fine of this magnitude is appropriate and proportional to making alleged misleading public statements over AF's transfer. Who says it is 600k. Nobody can actually say what it is potentially worth because nobody other than the FA/FL/AF/QPR and the authorised agent know the details. Was GP spouting the cost of the contract over its life time and if all the clauses pays out, I don't know. They are not saying nor will they. It has to be more than this and far worse for a fine of this size.

Absolutely agree it ought to. If we're now having to pay £800k for exaggeration, can we expect managers to be fined similar amounts for saying things like "Their goal was miles offside".

Ridiculous, and I don't see why we should pay a large sum of money to mask the FA's inadequacies..

The size of fine may be nothing more than part of a plea bargain rather being relative to seriousness of wrong-doing. FA get some cash and save some face. QPR get their party and the trophy in front of the fans.
Saying that though - if it WAS part of a plea-bargain, then an appeal is out o the question I would have thought.

One thing is for sure - there is a lot more about this to come-out. And I'm hoping it will.
