  • Football League Statement

    A Football League spokesman said:

"The Football League can confirm that it intends to present the npower Championship Trophy to Queens Park Rangers at the conclusion of tomorrow's fixture with Leeds United, in line with custom and practice. This decision will only be reviewed if the verdict of the ongoing FA Tribunal affects standings in the Championship table before that time."

Please can somebody translate this statement into plain English. It is extremely poorly worded and makes very little sense, in particular the last 3 words?!?!

They are saying that the table, as it stands, has QPR as champions at the end of the game. But, an FA verdict made before the end of the game, that deducts enough points, would mean they will not give us the trophy.

"Before that time" refers to the conclusion of the match.

If the verdict says we will be stripped an amount of points enough to end up behind Norwich or even further down the table we will not be presented with the trophy.

Nah, I made it even more complicated I guess....no surprise-
