It would make a complete farce of the play-offs and the two teams not given a bye would probably sue the Football League - what a mess.

Hang about. First they time the hearing for near the end of the season, despite having sat on the evidence for months. And now they want us to hurry up with any appeal. Double standards or what?

Rumour is it was us who delayed it.

If we have a legal right to appeal, say 14 days, then they surely cannot insist that we fast-track it just to please them. If they are saying we did not abide by the rules then how the poo can they change the rules of appeal just to suit themselves?

I don't really think this is a big story.

Its just stimulating that they have the power not to change Play off dates and if (if) we are found guilty, they are not going to accomodate us for any appeal

I don't know either way, but if it was a murder case then I would hope the appeal would be heard before the hanging, as it would be too late to grant freedom after the event!

I think Robo is right, one week delay - otherwise any appeal (other than over a financial fine) would be a waste of time.

Black Mafia - Your comparison is spooky !
Last man to be hanged in UK Derek Bentley. his appeal in the Commons/Lords was scheduled for the day after his hanging !

I figure the FL's stance on this could work in our favour.
If they want to flex some muscles around the playoff and any potential appeal we may make (which I think will happen if 3 or more points are deducted, potentially robbing us of the Championship or worse), it puts pressure on the FA to lean towards a fine or small reduction or both.

                  Then again, I only guessing.

They may have the power not to change the play off dates but we also have a right to apeal & if we take 14 days to that then that is our right & the FA can't do s hit about that surely?

Yes, and although I may be wrong on this, I am sure the penalty does not come into force until after the appeal. (This has been the case in other FA hearings). Therefore even if we have been deducted 10 points, until the appeal is heard we would not acutally 'qualify' to enter the play-offs in the same way the third placed team e.g. Cardiff would not be allowed to miss the play-offs and go up automatically. So where would that leave everyone?

It could be that the FL want this fully resolved by Friday with no impending appeal other than that of the amount of a fine or whether we are champions or second i.e. they are boxing the FA into a very tight corner. Or else the story is just crap.

(Sorry if this is just rambling nonsense - I could hardly sleep last night).

I thought it was an independent panel (not an FA one), so how can the FA say anything when nothing has been decided ?

We have a legal right to appeal.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

It's a nonsense story. In theory the FL can play the play offs whenever they choose. In theory we can sue them for £90m if those play offs occur without fair appeal. Neither will happen.

As Pete alludes to the FL have no problem with us. They approved the Faurlin deal and extension. The FA, who I feel have a witch hunt against certain individuals, are the ones bringing the charges and the ones who will lever the punishment. The panel hears the case and makes recommendations to the FA.
