  • All Out of Proportion

Listen, we've had various newspaper articles on the Ali Faurlin issue ever since the story broke. But we've always managed to discuss them and take other things into account and relax a little, confident that it would be okay.

Now, of course it's all going to go into overdrive (media-wise) as the season comes to a finale. It's a massive story, and would mark a remarkable precedent if the Champions were denied promotion to the Premier League.

What I'm trying to say is that we should have expected this for the last week of the season.

Nothing has actually changed - just more hype and speculation. We should try to remember all the reasons we relaxed over it before, enjoy the remaining two games, and see what happens.

I repeat - nothing has changed since the story first broke. Just an increase in speculation, after having gone quiet for some weeks. We're all just getting jittery, as the prize is in sight.

So please, please let's just try to be positive for the team.

Amen to all that - spot on.
No-one knows anything - its the press' job to write about these things and speculate ad infinitum. Sells papers!

This website (The Premier League Owl) have an interesting and cynical piece on the Sun article:

"The Sun wide of the mark on QPR rumours

Posted: April 29, 2011 by thepremierleagueowl in Tabloid Lying

What do the FA do when faced with an issue that presents a logistical problem?

They take the easiest and least disruptive route out and hope nobody notices how spineless they are.

This morning The Sun breathlessly reported that QPR were faced with a 15-point deduction over the ownership issues surrounding Alejandro Faurlin – we wonder whose phone they hacked to get that story? Anyway, the idea that the FA is going to stand-up to the kind of characters that have stakes in QPR – Ecclestone, Mittal etc – is a bit laughable. If you believe the dirty little tabloid, then the Championship playoffs face chaotic uncertainty, and a huge organisational nightmare to resolve.

Right, hands up who thinks that the FA are actually going to discipline one of the richest clubs in the country and face up to the months of appeals and fixture disruption that that will lead to?

Now, hands up who thinks that they’ll just fine QPR and hope that everybody kind of forgets about it?

Oh wait, they’ve got a source – an ‘FA Insider’ no less, sounds reliable:

‘There’s no question QPR have broken the rules. They know it as well. The only debate is what to do about it. If they aren’t found guilty you might as well scrap the rules about third-party owners.’

Next time you want to fabricate a source, maybe actually put something in it that reinforces your story. Just a thought."

He missed out that it was 2009 also that how can he say that we have broke the rules with out hearing our side first. But I do have a small theroy that this been printed to help us that the FA now in a coner as there been a leak on everything. So they FA may just fine us to show there was no leak with points being suspended

To be fair to the writer he/she is quoting the Sun article about us breaking the rules, not actually saying it themselves.

              The only changes is that

1)Tommy Smith was (quoted?) very nervous about the outcome of the hearing. That´s a tad worrying for my liking.

2)Earlier in this season Warnock just rubbished the whole saga as something quite different from what did happen when he was the manager of West Ham(The Teves incident) I know it is, but now he is quoted on "wanting to drop the ceremony connected to us a winners of the champoinship.

These two points makes me a bit more worried now than I was before.

There is also the fact that, had we been deducted points say six to eight weeks ago, we would have played all those fixtures since in a totally different way, in order to make up the shortfall.

A points deduction now leaves us no recourse this season. If we had nothing to play for, fair enough, but our position in the league and what it means should we be denied that position, would put the FA in jeopardy of massive backlash because of incompetence. Even if we have broken the rules, we have rights. And to leave it 'til right before the very last game is unforgiveable, should we be deducted points.

No, sorry, ain't gonna happen. I just cannot see it.

The effect these BS stories are having on the team, it amounts to a sabatage campaign.

Think there has been a precedent set - Think Brizzle got a £30k fine

From The Times April 9, 2008

Bristol City adamant they did nothing wrong in Enoch Showunmi dealGary Jacob Bristol City could be fined and have a transfer embargo imposed after being accused of using an unlicensed agent in the registration of Enoch Showunmi two years ago. The Coca-Cola Championship leaders are the latest club to be charged by the FA, which is keen to show its eagerness to act decisively to rid the sport of corruption.

Bristol City are alleged to have paid £30,000 to Charles Collymore, an agent, in the knowledge that at least some of the money was to be passed on to Mark Wilson, a colleague, who is unlicensed. Collymore was the catalyst for the recent round of FA inquiries after he was reported by Mike Newell, the former Luton Town manager, whose comments prompted the Stevens inquiry into illegal payments.
