  • QPR'S automatic promotion into the Premier League is set to be blocked by the FA.

SunSport understands the runaway Championship leaders are likely to face a big points deduction - possibly up to 15 - if they are found guilty of breaking strict third-party ownership rules over the signing of Alejandro Faurlin.

The evidence against the West London club is said to be damning and they could now end up in the play-offs.

The only winners would be Cardiff and Norwich who could then go up automatically.

The hearing into the signing of the Argentine midfielder two years ago begins next Tuesday and a verdict will be delivered three days later.

A four-man panel will comprise an independent QC, two from the FA's disciplinary panel and a football expert who will be either a former player or boss.

In theory, they should begin with a blank sheet of paper but many at the FA are openly discussing the case and reckon QPR - five points clear at the top of the table - are in big trouble. Those who have seen the evidence say Rangers are defending the indefensible.

An FA source said: "There's no question QPR have broken the rules. They know it as well. The only debate is what to do about it.

"If they aren't found guilty you might as well scrap the rules about third-party owners."

Some within the corridors of power believe QPR should be hit hard because they were well aware they were acting outside the regulations.

When West Ham were punished over the Carlos Tevez affair they were actually found guilty of failure to disclose information - not of breaking third-party ownership rules because such legislation did not exist.

Since then the FA have made third-party ownership illegal so the argument is QPR were worse offenders because they were well aware they were committing an offence.

If Neil Warnock's side are found guilty they will have seven days to appeal.

However, if QPR take legal action or other clubs decide to seek legal avenues because of points they lost when Faurlin played against them, the whole issue could drag on throughout the summer.

The nightmare scenario could even be that the Championship promotion play-offs do not take place at all until the issue is resolved.

Sorry to hear this fellas, but if you did what you've been suspected of then it's only fair. It's pathetic because it's in no way the fans fault, and you have to put up with these suits who f*ck everything up for you.

I sincerely doubt it's going to happen, though.

Please merge this with the "Oops" thread and then delete -- it's the Sun rehashing the People's rubbish from last week.

Fed up with Cardiff fans saying a points deduction would be fair -- how, exactly?
          No ineligible player.
          No administration.
No bribes or illegal payments to players to entice them to stay with us.
So no offence which carries a points deduction.

And Cardiff's dealings are all wonderfully above board are they? Yeah, they're really whiter than white, hiding their misdoings (including PLAYERS' misdoings) behind the FAW.

And, oh perfect Cardiff fans, if you read that report, the 'Fa spokesman'/tea-lady/cleaner never used the words 'points' or 'deduction' -- just the word 'punishment'. There are other punishments, which you lot seem to ignore.

The only mention of a points deduction at any time has come from the media and from prats like your own misery-guts failure, Dave Jones.

Now go away, had enough of fans coming on our MB's clutching their straws in their grubby little hands -- go and clutch them in your own backyard.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

Swanley.. I admire your positivity and you have obviously done your research but you need to remove your blinkers, they are stopping you from getting your head out the sand.

Unless of course you have seen all the evidence?

Please don't take this in a vindictive way, I can see you love the club and your contribution to this board is superb. I hope your right with your prediction this time

Could all work in our favour of course if it can be proved that any decision was predetermined

Many people on here have said QPR FC and Paladini have done nothing wrong and there was nothing to worry about, so I wonder if this headline on the back page of the Sun is fact or fiction

It is very amusing that everyone just slates the Sun as always being wrong - when their football writers are usually first with every story.

Not saying they don't sensationalise and speculate, then print that with slant - but they get a lot right too.

Do I beleive this? No. Am I getting more worried? Yes.

Exactly how do we define an FA Source, this quote sounds more like an opinion if that.

I just wonder if the club have a case against the FA for their whole handling of the affair and destabilisation of the club with the timing off the hearing!
