  • Ipswich finished 9th..................

Magilton spent a few quid ok but they weren't that far off in the end. They've replaced Magilton with a manager that spent a colossal amount at his previous club and left them with relegation worries.

I really don't see the logic from the Ipswich board and I don't see Magilton as any worse an appointment as Dowie, Sousa or Luigi De Canio personally.

Fair to middling appointment by a fair to middling club. Like it or lump it we're just batting at our current correct level.

again prices dont reflect this current level then.

You're correct. I'm positive that prospective managers past and present haven't asked, known or cared what we get charged to watch the R's.

Season ticket prices reflect what those that decide feel they can charge and get away with. If you pay then they have priced well. If you don't then they haven't.

Either way, season ticket and matchday prices will have little or no direct effect on what sort of manager we can attract so those of you that think it should probably need to reassess your reasoning.

The ticket prices are the issue really, Highest price in the championship without the same level of ambition.

If we were paying fair to middling prices then fair enough.

Also take away the 6 points that Keane got for Ipswich and they would have finished lower than us. So Magilton with a full season and the ability to bring in is own players still failed to out perform a rangers team that changed manager 3 times over the course of the season

Very True.....Magilton's Ipswich finished above QPR last season and were 1 of only 9 teams to finish with a positive goal difference. Goals are what we have been missing so please lets give the guy a chance. Only Wolves scored more goals away from home last season than Ipswich and it's our away form that is the problem so it makes sense doesn't it?

Indeed. However you are confusing two issues. Just because we pay the highest prices doesn't mean that the club will be able to attract a big name manager. Only what the club offer the manager in question will affect that.

The prices are what they are. Pay them or don't just don't keep recycling the same argument for every single issue that the club faces and you're not happy about.

Please don't think that I don't think that we're justified in being miffed at the high prices but simply applying that argument to every other issue is self defeating and a little boring.

                  I look at this way.
Ipswich finished five points above us of which 6 of those points were gained by Keane. Yet we've had 3/4 managers and major injury problems to key players all season! JM also spent millions there building HIS squad, yet after 3 years all he can do is finish 5 points better then us? Sorry mate but i can see exactly why he got sacked.
If we're happy to be mid-table again then he's a great appointment!

Fair to middling appointment by a fair to middling club. I believe that is exactly what I said.

I also said that he is of exactly the same standard as our previous three managers and I stand by that.

probably not far off tbh (though i think Sousa would have done well if he was given the chance) I just thought there would be more ambition and a statement of intent from the board. If we are gonna keep on being a mid table team then we should be paying mid table prices.

we were promised a 4 year plan with champions league footie to follow,by appointing an average championship manager who has achieved nothing we are throwing that plan out the window

But for all we know they might have been knocked back by the Managers that you're thinking about....Managers who won't be told what to do? We really need to accept the situation and get on board!

But that's the problem I'm afraid. We're being fed all this **** about how great everything is/will be at the club and then they do this. (maybe?)
To me it feels like I'm being prepared for a good shafting yet the #######s are telling me how great it's gonna be while they lube up! :horror:
