  • Steve Brown's view of our current squad

Speaking to Steve Brown (ex QPR Youth Team manager) yesterday says we need 14 new players for next season. Only Paddy and Ali good enough for Prem and that Adel will be gone to a "big club" by Christmas. Also expects no points deduction but a big fine.

Had Raheem Sterling in his team and says the lad will make it and that he is a cut above. Says he is dedicated with a great work ethic as well as being extremley talented.

he aint far off.. id say 6-7 players we've got now can cut it next year.. but we all know where we need replacements..

      cb, fullbacks, cm and strikers.

for me.. bougherra, scott brown(younger derry, plus he hates EH diouf as much as we do), naughton, walker, graham, bothroyd
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
      Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

He isn't out of work. He works for Everton as a scout and for Addidas as a sponsorship manager. He has no pretentions to manage and is a top bloke actually. I suspect he knows a bit more than you and me Jeffro (well you anyway )

The problem is the length of time he has been out of the Club - honestly don't recall when he left although he was appointed as Under 18's by John Greegory if I recall?
He simply cannot know how players have developed and/or improved under Warnock's staff and, by the same token there are some that may have appeared to be developing well that hit the proverbial wall in their development.
I would rather hear the opinions of people still involved in the Club who are at the coal face so to speak, unless they are giving opinions on some of the older pro's who don't tend to change irrespective of the coaching staff.........even though, for example, NW has got a season of hard work out of HH and the odd goal too - something no previous manager at Rangers has managed

To be honest we desperately need our academy reinstated and start producing a few home grown lads, well behind other clubs in youth development and getting good youngster to come to qpr is very difficult, we should be able to compete with the Watford's and Fulham's, Charlton's of this world but cant.

Academies can be hard to make productive. Even with heavy investment like Chelsea.

I agree though - we need a lot of work for the Prem.

Chelsea just buy up everyone so other clubs can't have them, thats all about to stop though. Get good scouts and coaches in and the boys are out there, its just getting people to do there jobs properly, and not taking boys on by word of mouth. Very few scouts or recruitment officers come and watch now (unless outstanding) there make there decisions by watching DVDs!!

14 players??? that is the biggest crock I ever heard. We need 4 players, 5 at the max, I hate the way people downgrade this team. It's like as though we were lucky or something, we bossed the league the whole frigging season!!!!

If you are being idealistic - he's about right IMO.

                              Paddy - All day long.

Defense wise: Clint would get murdered by anyone with decent pace and skill (as we saw with Bellamy). All of our CB's tend to "flap about" when put under pressure... and we've seen what we will really need at RB with Walker (with the greatest of respect to Orr).

In the middle: Faurlin and Tarbs all day long. Buz too (probably... with the right system). Derry would get skinned with the higher tempo and level of skill - although he'd be the first on my teamsheet at this level.

And the forwards: Most of them couldn't hit a cows #### with a banjo.... bar Routs, despite the decent "hold up" play. And Routs has question marks.....

But like I say - that's being idealistic. And I don't think that we (in our current state) would see much more of a challenge from say WBA, Stoke or Foolham, than we would say from Cardiff, Norwich or Swansea.

The thing is that it's more a case of "the whole" (and Trabs ).... because if it wasn't Leicester and Cardiff would have been long up by now.........
