NEIL WARNOCK conceded he felt deflated by the late goals by Hull City – against his own side – and Norwich, at home to Derby, which technically postponed promotion for another week. His team were eight minutes from landing the title as well as confirming their elevation when David Amoo's goal cancelled Wayne Routledge's early strike. It will take a miraculous string of results to deny the Hoops now. They have a six point and 13-goal advantage over third placed Cardiff with two to play.
But the mathematics say they need another point at Watford or for Cardiff or Norwich to slip up next Saturday to confirm they are up and the QPR boss was in a bitter-sweet mood.“It's disappointing not to have tied the Championship up. We should be going into the last two games not having to get a point,” Warnock said.
“But it doesn't surprise me really with my team. We keep things going right to the end.
“I thought they [Hull] would have to have a go at us at some stage because they had to win the game really, so I wasn't surprised, but they've only had one chance and I thought we had more than enough opportunities.“Is there a feeling of anti-climax in the dressing room? I should think so. A few words were said. I was disappointed to concede a goal like we did.“But they've done brilliantly. Five points clear with two games to go and 13 goals difference. I can't ask for any more than that. It's a miracle really.”Warnock added: “I never thought we were up today, but I think the fans know the goal difference is quite good and unless we do something that we haven't done for a long time, other than Scunthorpe away, it's a healthy position to be in.“I'm sorry I didn't hear the fans [chant my name] after the game, but I had enough to say in the dressing room without worrying about anybody else outside.”
