  • Fitz Hall

Just realised that this board hasn't really mentioned Fitz Hall, who I thought was absolutely outstanding when he came on.

True, Agyemang may have made the difference when he came on, but Hall was absolutely fantastic, winning headers and tackles all the way through. He & Gorkss worked really well together - so much better than Connolly, who once again had a first half nightmare.

Gorks was shocking today! But I am not gonna moan about a performance like that from the side.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Hall and Gorkss is our best CB partnership on current form.
15 years in the wilderness will be a distant memory come Sunday 8th May 2011.

Derry had a superb game too.

Best defence: Hall, Gorkss, Orr and Hill

Well obviously you didn't see the game yesterday because Gorks was very poor yesterday, but in recent weeks especially at Barnsley he was very good.

Gorkss made quite a few slips yesterday, both when under pressure and when he wasn't, as did Connolly. In fact, Clint Hill actually ended up being pulled out of position to coever for Gorkss.
Can't blame Hill fr the fact that Gorkss was clearly put on Bothroyd and failed to close him down for both his goal and the pass for the 2nd goal; nor the awful mistake by Connolly gifting Bellamy the ball for the 2nd. I can't help thinking that Hall, or the Connolly of old, would have put their foot through that ball and cleared it.

I've always been a fan of Gorkss and Connolly, and was not happy with the signing of Hill, but yesterday the fullo backs, for once, were better than the two (very jittery) centre backs.

I would expect Hall to start over Connolly on Monday.

both connolly and gorkks had mares. fact is with gorkks he is just too slow. but he did make up towards the end with some great clearing headers which is his bread and butter really.

when hall came on we was assured
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
                  Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"
