Like they always are in this paper. Personally cannot see this happening.

Probably a load of rubbish! Hopefully, I don't think we need a Brazilian coach with no knowledge of English football to get us out of the championship!

Zico would be a very good appointment but he's a world class manager and would be too expensive for us. Interesting section on wiki on his thoughts about working in England and under technical directors:

On 8 September 2008, Zico revealed that he would be interested taking over the vacant managers position at Newcastle United following the resignation of Kevin Keegan. He is quoted saying "The Newcastle job is one that I would be very interested in taking. It would be a privilege and an honour, I've always wanted to experience the Premier League as I believe I could enjoy much success coaching in England." He also commented that he isn't bothered about the structure of the board at Newcastle United, "I am used to working alongside technical directors so this isn't an issue for me. It's normal for me to work in those conditions."

I'm sure Zico would be a great appointment if we were a Premier League team but we are not we play in the CCC.

My money if I had any left, would still be on Magilton.:horror:

Zico story is my view is great journalism and it might be a last minute think from Flavio, but sure we will find out Tuesday what we knew all along.

Not 100% on the NAME of the new manager, but 99.9% it has been sorted and we will know this week

i just dont want to believe its Magilton. surely, they would have announced it already if it was him. Amit said a few weeks ago that they are taking their time and making sure to get the right man.. that cant mean they have taken 2 months to decide we need an ipswich reject who has failed in this league? surely.

I am going to disagree with a number of you. I would compare it to a singer. You can give a song from any genre to a truly great singer and they will make it sound brilliant.

Same with a football manager - if your good enough and you can man manage to a high level, the team will win football matches. I didnt see Keegan have a problem with Fulham in CCC. I didnt see Keane having a problem with Sunderland in the CCC. Like I say, if your good enough your good enough.

On the subject of Jim I believe this is a crazy risk, if true. The guy has no pedigree at any level for gods sake. No different to PS in the fact of hardly any managerial experience. If Jim is true the board have really gone mad and I will lose all faith that I have somehow managed to hold onto.

It is so simple the type of manager we need. I will sum it up in one word, someone who is a 'WINNER'.

                      Doh!

I suspect, they wanted to try and get Blackwell at the last minute, maybe even contemplated GG, it all comes back to one thing.

Players want a British manager proved in the championship. Working in football (which I do), you do know that certain managers are a little more flexible. The fact, we have changed 2 managers twice does not help. Any clever agent/manager will either ask for the earth in terms of a weekly salary or a long 4 year contract, knowing that after 6 months if they play it right and results don't go well (not that they would do it deliberately), they would get a nice 3 and half years wages. Managers that have managed in the premiership (ie Curbishley) would want silly money and thats why both Curbishley and pardew are out of the equation

Then, you fall into other categories, lower down the ladder who have a point to prove and would probably do the job for a year (maybe 2 year), thats where Magilton, Cotterill and Boothyroyd fit in. Of the 3 Magilton is the one who has most to prove and only JUST came out of work, so knows more about the championship than the others.

As I say, not 100% sure, but do know we haven't long to wait.

I personally think it is wrong for the players to have a say in who they want, Supposing the manager doesn't rate half the players and wants rid.How would they feel about asking for so + so then, they would have no passion in playing for him and we need unity in the squad

in my honest opinion i would not want Zico as manager - i would much prefer someone with CCC experience to get us out of this division.... looking forward to tuesday

Like many have echoed already, great name, legend, but is he the man to get us out of a gritty, hard 1st division? I don't think so,pretty sure Magilton has the job but i'm praying he hasn't & am personally hoping we get Boothroyd
