  • Will Adel really cut the mustard in the premmo?..Merged Thread

After watching him tonight labour against an ageing war-horse in Robbie Savage, throw himself to the ground (dive) and then his petulant attitude when substituted, am I alone in starting to wonder whether he will make the grade next season?

I have been delighted and frustrated by his performances this season and overall he has been pretty awesome in the Championship. But, I am starting to fear that apart from some cameo performances next season that he might actually prove to be a liability. He will be playing against far better players every week and if he is struggling against teams like Derby then how will he fair against teams like Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs et al?

Hopefully with a better squad he will rise to the occasion and the above will be unfounded conjecture. I don't feel this is not a knee-jerk reaction to a below par performance as he has had other games where he has struggled and reacted poorly when things don't go his way...

Be interested to see what others think...?

Adel likes time on the ball and he will get that in the prem especially away from home(big pitches) he will play better i feel on the big stage but we will sell him for £14m when the times right as he is too inconsistant and does go missing at times

My personal opinion is that he shouldn't have played tonight. Savage was always going to start for them and have the job of following him round all night, whenever this has happened Taarabt has had a poor game so throw someone else on instead then it throws Derbys initial game plan out the window. Would have been the perfect time to give Buzsaky a game.

Savage has had AT in his pocket every single time he's played against him & I really thought tonight Adel was going to turn him inside out but yet again he got nothing out of him.

Adel up against experience in the Prem trying to nuts everyone will be an embarrassment.

But I still love the guy, he's a great talent at this level.

Just to add how many premier lg teams will man mark Taarabt? Not too many at a guess as we will be more worried about there players.

Still have major concerns that he won't be able to make the necessary step up next season on a regular basis... hope am well off the mark though as would be fab to see him take the Premmo by storm next season..

Savage followed Taarabt everywhere last night. Do you really think Prem teams will do that??? 'Ok Essien, today you are going to follow their number 7 all game' no chance. He is a great talent, some games he will be well on it. Others he will not do much but that's the kind of player he is. Personally much prefer to have him than not

without a doubt a class player, but there are aspects of his game that when he does go it won't be as painful as losing rodney, sir les, parkes. . .
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
