        So was Mackie a winner? How about Tommy Smith last season? Arguably Hill or Derry can hardly be described as winners before we signed them.

        Good players get relegated each season. I can't see Liverpool or Spurs
        not being interested in Charlie Adam if they finished 18th but prepared to spend £10m if they finish 17th.
