  • The pitch!

I was watching a dvd the other day showing the rangers play at loftus rd in 77 and it really brought home to me how bad our pitch was , id forgotten it was a case of spot the grass through all the mud and sand! i think the pitch we have at the moment is the best we had in years and is a credit to the ground staff! does anyone know if the rumour is true that there is a under ground stream running below the pitch on the ellerslie rd stand and thats what makes the pitch on that side a bit dodgy! true or bull?

Lack of sunlight is the reason the pitch was always dodgy...the roof of the stand prevents the sunlight getting to the grass there...these days they use lamps that go up and down the pitch creating artificial sunlight...

Connell, let's go back to Astro Turf, it just destroyed our supposedly superior opponents, their legs couldn't take it. All we had to do was bounce it at the centreback, watch it go over his head..goal!

oh mate that focking ominturf pitch was shite! i remember going to the first game played on it , i was with my dad and no-one in the crowd knew how it would play, we soon found out from the the first goal kick and the ball came down and seemed to bounce 100ft into the air! i looked at my dad and he looked at me and said as one " this pitch is focking awful"as we both shook our heads! worse was to come as we got beat by luton in that game as well! still we got to a cup final and got promoted on the back of it! does anyone remember the last game on it when at the final whistle there was a pitch invasion and fans started to rip it up?? great days!

If Stoke had it, they'd win the premiership by 15 points!!

that's what we need, a tiny narrow pitch, bomb it up the middle to HH and Ishmael, 8 men in our half, we'd never lose!
