Hi All,
I have just registered but have been an avid viewer for sometime.
I have been reading an obituary of Jim Towers whom some of you may recall played for us in the early Sixties along with George Francis ( Gerry's Pater). In the late fifties the pair had been a profilic goal scoring partnership at Brentford.
In an interview last year, Jim Towers was reminiscing and alluded to the adulation that Defoe had received following his 5 goal effort against Wigan. Towers recalled that when he was playing ,he once scored 4 goals at the old Dell. It had been a Tuesday night:away game and bythe time the team bus arrived back at Griffin Park, all the buses had stopped ( he could not afford a car) and he walked home to the Bush ! where he lived. !!
o tempora o mores ( for you classicists)
