Ok this needs a vote because i'll be supporting QPR not St georges day.

The IRISH celebrate st patricks day but I have lived in england long enough to see no one cares about St georges day. Are we doing it just to wind up the welsh or do you care?

I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Rebel I am the same mate.

I think most are doing it to wind up the welsh.

Lets not forget its QPR's day and that has to come 1st and I think w12 is right we need to find the right balance otherwise it will feel like an england game.

To be fair, the Cardiff fans have always been just as quick (if not quicker) to push the Welsh vs English thing.
They're proud to be Welsh and show it, and it's one of the few things I admire about them.
Personally, I shall be in Cardiff to support my team and will sing Rangers songs -- but this game has always had an English v Welsh thing about it, and it's pure coincidence about it being on St George's day this year.

Wish we celebrated St Georges Day in the same way the Irish do with St Patricks Day.

Reality is we don't, because you always get some far left winger going to councils to get bans on flags, in other cases its seen as ovehyping our heritage, by the very people who can celebrate there own religion or historic backgrounds, in some cases every week of the year without anyone battoning an eyelid

Do you not agree with w12 though pete that this is QPR's day not Englands. We mustn't forget what we are really there to celebrate. Yes take some flags whatever but all these english songs will make me cringe. Sing QPR songs.

I think saying the English dont care about St George's Day is wrong. I know plenty of English who to them St George's day is one of the main days of the year. They might not be proud of how the country has turned out but they are proud of their heritage. Its people like Gordon Brown and his mob, the doo-gooders and Human right brigades who try their best to make you as unpatriotic as possible. Its not racist to support your country, wear your colours and be proud of where you were born.
Look at the Americans, they display their flag all over their country, wheres over here we feel we cant because it might offend foreigners. Shocking.

from where i come from st georges day is heavily celebrated, however its often over-celebrated and turns into a witch hunt for anybody in the area who isn't english...

but on the same hand there is a sports club i go to which has a really really good party every st georges day.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
                  Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

BigDave thats my point though, I am not saying its right, I'm just saying there are alot more people that don't do anything rather than make an effort. The way the country is gone with Jobs etc I can't say I am proud to be english. I know its bad but its the way I feel. I still think QPR should be the main clebration because like w12 said it sounds like st georges day will takeover.

What should fans bring to celebrate SGD? A St George Cross? A burka? A pot of Curry? Polish banners?

These are all the things that represent England these days as I see it unfortunately.
