I'm not going to get into the overpaid teachers argument. I work a 10 hour day (8am-6pm) then 3 or 4 more hours most evenings and all day Sunday.
People only see the hours we spend with the children -- that is the minority of the modern teaching day.
Hour for hour, I work as many as most people in this country, probably more than some.
If you think teaching is so easy, I'll happily get you CRB checked to shadow me for a week (including the weekend, when I work an average of 10 hours) -- then tell me I have an easy job.
People who know me will even have seen me taking my marking on the coach to away games on occasions.
You'll argue against that because, despite not knowing what my job is REALLY like, you clearly know all about it.
No time for people who knock teachers, I'm afraid.
