  • The Importance of Hall and Helguson In The Run-in?

Last few games, think they have been immense.

Not bad for 2 crocks who we all thought the best days were behind them when due to popular demand they were shipped out last season, whilst we took in players like Priskin and Bent.

Helguson has been a revelation this season and the amount of work he does, goes unnoticed. With Fitz Hall, the victim of verbal abuse has risen above it and been a mountain in defence in our recent unbeaten run.

Two players that won't be winning Player of The Season, but have contributed greatly in our success this season.

Makes you wonder what good back-up Legiterwood might have been, luckily both Derry and Faurlin have gone about the season practically injury free

Helguson is far more important than Hall in the run. It is no coincidence that we started scoring goals again when Helguson returned from injury in place of Hulse. Where as Connolly can easily replace Hall.

Although this thread smacks of a thinly veiled attempt to give Uncle GP credit when we all know one good season in 3 is hardly the basis for praise and I suspect its Warnock who should be taking the credit for getting the most out of them.

Hall is a much superior defender than Connolly.

I've been surprised with Connolly who I rate highly. The Leicester game where he came on seems to have knocked the confidence out of him and seems well down the pecking order now.

Not even on Subs bench on Tuesday, unless he has injury I don't know about.

I wouldn't go that far but Connolly has played his part more than Hall in keeping clean sheets and making our defence rock solid. I do agree with Warnock's timing of mixing it up though.

Funny how the same manager can really raise the confidence of some players but shatter others.

White city I know you are a good poster but you have made mistakes regarding defenders. I mean it wasn't long ago when you slated the sale of Damion Stewart when he was never going to be good enough for a team top of the league. Again we all make mistakes but some own up to them.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Am I right in thinking we have won every game that Hall has started this season?

                    I believe so Captain.

The truth is every club want a scapegoat but the truth of the matter is he's a decent centre back. My only slight whinge is his heading as for his size he should be much stronger in the air and at times heads the ball up instead of out but if you asked who i'd prefer between him and Connolly well its an easy answer, hall.

Connors must be about 12 stone max, I think he could do with bulking up, I have seen him being bullied far to often, lacks pace and lets the ball bounce. Yes he is good on the ball but i'd be sh it scared if he has to mark players like Drogba. He had 2 terrible showings against King who is a decent striker but strikers in the premiership are far better. Used to be a big fan of his but he just hasn't progressed like most had hoped. Neil dropped him and that decision was correct.

Exactly right, 4th choice at best.
Hall has been immense and credit where credits due, his injuries seem to have cleared up.

Connelly will always have his fans however he plays, but just like i did; neil saw him getting bullies and it was only a result of Paddy Kenny's brilliance and bad finishing that we went unpunished for quite a few games.

Yes he has played a part in our defence this season, no doubt, but ongoing and good enough for the Premiership??

Not uless he gets on the old pro-max shakes and learns to clear a ball.

i have disliked hall for ages...i have slated and slagged him off
well he was very good v sheff utd, only my dislike prevents me saying he was motm...
he has been good for few games now
if he stayed fit and focussed, he could be vital for us next campaign
is it me or is heidar slimmer? seems fitter and been patient yet has delivered....

It's been nice and easy for Hall coming into a side that had the bets defence in the land. It's not like he's had much to do in recent weeks! Not many sides have exactly attacked us too much. Paddy Kenny hardly did a thing against Donny and Sheff Utd. And for an all round defender, MC is the best.
