  • This loyalty point business

Not sure how any club is meant to run a loyalty scheme,at the moment Rangers define a loyal supporter as someone who has over 100 points this season, they can buy tickets to Watford and Cardiff, what total ********.

To obtain this 100 points you could have missed all home games and if living up north have attended 12 or some fairly local away games,100 point collected now a loyal supporter.

Myself, been a season ticket holder for 40 years, work shifts so cannot get to away games as all the holidays etc are booked for home games, watch total crap for many years, attended class home games in classics like the Simod cup with 3000 other fans, but are deemed not to be a loyal fan.

Case 2 Cousin lives in Singapore, was a season ticket holder for 10 years before he emigrated, flys home around twice a year to catch as many home and away fans as possible, this year purchased a season ticket and has got to 3 games. He is flying 7500 miles back to England to see the last 6 games but will probably miss Watford and Cardiff because he is not a loyal supporter by their rules, yeah very funny.

I know it is not easy to issue everyone a ticket but loyalty points based over 1 season and potentionally over attending just a few away games is total ********.

It's how all clubs do it I'm afraid. I can see both sides.

But surely the fans who have been to the most games this season should get first dibs on the tickets for games like Cardiff and Watford. Remember these were the fans who at the start of the season were going every week and had no idea we would be top of the league and looking like going up.

Clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool do this system and they have fans coming from all over the world to watch them every week. Also following England is done like this.

Out of any possible system this is certainly the fairest.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

A renewed season ticket gives you 70 which you should have as you say you renew each year, well that's a good start surely. Only a few away games and your there.
Whats the problem, you've then been rewarded for being loyal.
Why worry about other people. Lifes tough aint it.

I'm not saying the past shouldn't count but how far back do you want to go, there is age too. In your scenario because someone is older they have been to more games and should be rewarded more, i'm not young so it would be good but we also need fans for the future and the youngsters are where they are coming from.

I for over 40 years have given thousands of pounds upfront before a ball has been kicked, people who attend away games can pick and choose and if you are Northern based you can amass 100+ points by attending very few games.

You cannot wipe out 40 odd years of attending Rangers by not awarding fans some recognition.

Spurs loyalty scheme rolls over year on year, that way long serving loyal supporters are very well looked after,at Rangers someone attending their first season, and a very successful season can be termed a loyal fan.

Loyalty takes time to earn, not 12 away games.

To some extent I agree past seasons have to be taken into account. Say if we get Chelsea, Fulham, Spurs or Arsenal away 1st game of next season. Do we all start with clean slates and will it be a free for all, or will this season's loyalty points be taken into consideration?

I was thinking the exact same thing.....this year we all started again at 70 or 50.....if they opt for this again a fan that has been to all 46 games could miss out on the first away game....

Will the club sell away season tickets next year?

well i had near 150 mark and felt 125 should've been the mark.
whatever the club do , some would miss out...yet tkts remain for barnsley away, where WE COULD GO UP....and derby home game, where we seal it.

i'd have been sickened if someone had got watty/cardiff tkts cos they got to ground before me,in a free for all.....and really why should i have queued?

club know my total and could contact me and do a phone transaction, thereby getting my £3.50 fee...there i'm moaning, lol.
this morning from about 6am 3 persons were there, 2 in wheelchairs and 1 "elderly", should they have been there??

How can you find out how many points you've got? I've got ST renewal (70 ) + only Ipswich/Millwall away - what are they worth?

Check on line. I would guess you have about 76/77 points.

I've said before and I'll say it again, if you think you've got a better system that works, suggest it to the club and if it's usuable they'll use it, but, do you really expect them to check through every ticket stub you've had over the last couple of years.

This system rewards the people that have been going thick and thin this season, the season's it's mattered. It's not the clubs fault that you have to do shift work is it? It's not their fault your brother moved to Singapore is it?

Really beginning to get my goat people whinging about not getting tickets because they don't have the loyalty points - no fault but your own. You expect a ticket for the 'big' games without going to the others.

Checking my loyalty points tally online today, I see that it has further risen to a grand total of 1,760 points. What to do...
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

Your air miles accounts must be through the roof then flying backwards and forwards from Estonia to all those games...

Surely you buy a season tkt to watch home games,so why should you get 70 "Loyalty Points" which you can use to get away tkts.I have amassed 131 points all apart from 30 for my membership is due to following my team around the country which consists of far more money and time than home games.Iv been to all home games as well before you ask but could not afford a season tkt at the time.I would say Loyalty = following your team around the country through thick and thin,if we were not is this position how many people would be complaining that they cant get tkts for Cardiff and Watford !!!

I believe every time you have bought a home ticket this season they should give you an additional 2-3 points per ticket. I am only a member but have been to at least 85% of home games this season. If that is not spending as much money on the club as a season ticket holder I don't know what is?
