QPR's emphatic 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday night saw them restore their nine-point lead at the top of the npower Championship, and striker Tommy Smith says the players are "loving every minute of every game".
Smith played a pivotal role in our victory over the Blades, and he told www.qpr.co.uk: "When you are on the sort of run we're on and sitting at the top of the table you have got to enjoy your football, and that is something the manager keeps telling us.
"He says to us before each game to smile and enjoy it. That's what we're doing.
"With the match being on TV, it put us in the ideal position to show everyone else that we're not nervous and relishing the position that we're in."
Rangers took the lead through Wayne Routledge to go in 1-0 up at the interval, and Smith said: "We got off to a good start, but we took our foot off the pedal and they got back into it.
"At half-time we spoke about starting well after the break and we knew if we got that second goal it would be very hard for them. We managed to do that and it was quite convincing after that."
Alejandro Faurlin added a stunning second before Routledge grabbed his brace to complete the scoring against their relegation-threatened opponents.
"Sadly for them they are having a tough time at the moment," Smith added, "but, at the other end of the scale, we are loving every minute of every game.
"It has been a pleasure to be here. Ever since I joined there has been no pressure from the manager to do this or not do that, it's just freedom and I have loved it.
"As long as we have shape when we're defending, when we go forward we don't have a leash on us at all and we can do what we want."
Rangers need three more wins from their final seven matches to seal a return to the Premier League, but there is no chance of complacency creeping in to the QPR dressing room.
Smith said: "We've got a guy in charge who has drilled it into us that until the job is done we are going to do things properly. That's what we're trying to do."
