  • Lee Cook wants to fight for QPR future

    By Paul Warburton

LEE Cook is desperate for three games to prove he has a QPR future - and insists his team-mates can help him out.

If Hoops wrap up promotion before the end of the season, the long-suffering winger contends manager Neil Warnock is more likely to give him a showcase for the remaining fixtures and help his first-team cause.

After coming through 70 minutes of his first game in six weeks - the 0-0 draw with Fulham last week - Cook reckons he will defy the odds and stay with Rangers.

He said: "There was no after effect on my knee - and I’ve worked my nuts off to get back to fitness.

"At my best I know I can play in the Premiership - and playing there for the club I’ve supported all my life would be a dream."

Cook’s list of ailments is telephone book-length after playing only nine games in two years, and all stemming from his damaged knee, ironically aggravated playing his only game for a Premiership side against QPR.

The 28-year-old signed for Fulham in 2007 and featured in a pre-season friendly against Rs, since when it is has been one bit of bad luck after another.

"I know fans have written me off,’ said Cook. "I would in their position. But they don’t know me and don’t see the day-to-day work I’m doing.

"I guess the big moment will come at the end of the season when the manager says he does or doesn’t want me.

"If it’s a no then I’ll weigh up my options. But if my team-mates can wrap up promotion and give me a chance to get a game or two that would be the first step."

Warnock wants to give Cook as long as he can - but warned he may have to ‘manage’ his knee for the rest of his career.

He added: " I don’t think we’re at the stage where it’s over for him because he’s a battler, and what Lee needs is the confidence of three or four games to help get him back."

Fulham is a typically diverse London area with something for everyone - from the hustle and bustle of North End Road Market, to the refined chicness of the iconic Fulham Road. It boasts superb pubs and restaurants, two Premier League football clubs and excellent transport links.

TO be honest I prefer this way of links than Morris one's.

Fair play to Morris for his effort in his blog, but i dont know whether he is writing this as a blog normally is, or it is from a credible source.

Keep up the updates in this format Paul.

Jeffro praising Mr Mason?? Very confused.com
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Never said that, I said he was a greedy ******* with a bad attitude which could **** other players off and as it happens, every interview NW gives, he says he is and he does, but we accept it as he is what it is. And another thing, from the moment he signed and became a QPR player, I have never said nothing but good things about him.

Its funny how you do not keep digging out the hundreds of people on here who slated Mackie, Hill and Derry as crap signings, but I guess that's the kind of person you are.

Difference is I owned up to my mistake. I came out and said I made a huge mistake regarding Hill and more importantly Derry. I haven't been proved wrong about Mackie and we will have to hold our horses on that one Mr mason.

If he could get back to form he was in before he went off to Fulham I'd love to see him in our team, we owe him.

                        But....

Very true, always a but with Lee though..

Id truely love him to get back to fitness and play well, i just cant see it though, he will come back and then get injured again..

Sad to have to say it, but as time passes i have labelled him as a player whos career will be cut short by injury.. Id love him to prove me wrong cos he is a nice lad.
Cant believe it, ive been PWOPER MUGGED ORF...

I am quite looking forward to getting promoted as the team will change and could be interesting with players trying to stake a claim.

                            - Rowlands - Derry/Faurlin -
                            - Hogan --- Buzz --- Cook -
                            ----------- Hewitt -----------

As stated on another thread I just don't think we can afford to assume that just because we are mathematically "promoted" that the FA doesn't then deduct points. We need to play our strongest team right to the end. V happy for Cook etc to come on in near the end of matches in which we are two or three up but we have to start with the team that has got us where we are.
