That is not good news for football though. Parachute payments are going up and will last longer - will just create yo-yo clubs every year.
It is what Sky want because they don't want small clubs like Blackpool in the prem..they want a stable group of wealthy clubs to make the Prem better at the expense of football as a whole.

Going to be the death of football. Sky has created a beast in the Premier League and because of the discrepancy in the latest TV deals, clubs will gamble everything to either stay in the PL or will gamble everything to get in / get back into it from the Championship. Some may well achieve it, but will then need to alter the infrastructure of their clubs to survive long term.
But there will be many, many clubs that do not make it and will go to the wall.
That said, even the top clubs are clearly not coping. The Blue Lot down the road won the double last season and still managed a significant loss. How does that make sense? You win the two major domestic trophies and still lose money? AMAZING.
Then there's Sir Alex's lot. Losing money year on year now, growing a debt bigger than many small countries with absolutely no apparent pressure to reduce or remove the debt.
Then Liverpool. Out of the Champions League, so what are they going to do? I suspect that they will spend beyond their means to get back in that club.
And Man City - £200k per week for players? Sustainable, really?
So, we go to the Premiership next season and start bringing in players on £40-60k a week on our attendances - really? You may think that's OK as we have owners with money, but our accounts show that all they're doing is loaning the money just like that bloke did at Pompey. What are they going to do when they get bored / we don't stay up???
Still, that's enough of a reality check, let's just enjoy the fact that we've got where we've wanted to be since 1996. I mean that's all we really care about, isn't it?

Poor news for football in England, but every one knew that once sky controlled T.V. right they would cut the price,I'm surprised they haven't done it to the prem yet as no other T.V. co can compete with them. also when you say they don't want small clubs in the prem like Blackpool I suppose QPR,Wigan fall into that catergory as we are deffo not a big club in anyone's eyes

PL are absolutely desperate to get Leeds back and would like Cardiff too due the additional marketing pull.
At the moment it's a weak league as aside from 8 clubs, the other 12 are interchangeable with most Championship clubs.
