  • This team is good enough.....

....to hold its own in the Premier League next season IMO.

I do not buy into the myth that the gulf between the PL and NPC is vast, not in the slightest. I believe the overall standard of the NPC has improved this season which has given the impression of a more even playing field.

There is going to be a lot of you out there screaming for 4/5 replacements big money replacements next season just to stay up and it will be total ******. A number of players we have comfortable on the ball may well flourish in the PL as well including the likes of Ephriam, Helguson, Faurlin and possibly a resurgent Buzsaky.

The gulf in the PL lies between the Top 4/5 and the rest of the league, Newcastle have spent nothing and held their own and the likes of Blackpool have won twice as many matches so far that anyone would have had them down for. The Top 6 teams in the NPC could give teams in the PL as far up as 7th a good game on their day.

Players such as a Hill, Orr, Derry alike will get their chances next season and rightly so. I was sat in a pub the other day and got talking to a Rangers fan and heard the classic line 'we need to spend big next season' and 'need to replace Derry in the middle as it will be too big a step up for him' and I was like why?

We will obviously need to strengthen like any promoted team but I do believe what we already have could hold their own at present the way we are playing. We'd all like to see Danny Graham here but I'd go for an old campaigner in the mould of Patrick Viera to bring that much needed experience in the middle of the park and some pace at the back would be nice but we do not need to go all out and blow a massive transfer budget. I for one would not look to disturb the present balance of the team/squad we have too much. Just bring in the right men for the job and believe in Warnock to get that right. I think 3 signings would be good enough to see us finish top half of the table and I mean that.

Agreed and it wont be long until you hear words "the current players have earned the right to play in the PL" anyway, we will not have any money to spend once Flavio on the boys take their £35-£40m back from the SKY money.

We will have a budget like Burnley and Blackpool which was about £10m and that will be enough to add Danny Graham and a replacement for Derry if needed, plus a few others like DJ Campbell who have had a shot at the PL and done well.

Agree with your post General and a good read to be fair.

I have massive respect for Derry and he has proven me completely wrong and many others this season. He is the perfect centre midfield partner for a blossoming faurlin.

I agree with adding more pace at the back and I do worry about clint hill and Orr against the likes of Bale, giggs, lennon etc. I think losing walker has made the lack of pace a concern.

I think we need to bolster the forward line. If helguson got injured we are in big trouble. Agyemang is a mid table championship striker at best.

The big difference between championship and premiership is the strikers being far more clinical. Sheff utd showed last night that they would struggle to hit a barn door. Helguson deserves a chance but we do need to add some cover.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Danny Graham would fit perfect into our team/style of play, and is a Warnock type player i think he would come to QPR, but what would he cost? Watford would want top dollar.
F*CK OFF CHELSEA WEST LONDON IS OURS!

Agree 100% with this post, our system copes with a lack of pace of both Derry and Faurlin (who looks like he is running in treacle at times) but plays to their strengths and allows our attacking players to cause havoc like last night. Faurlin is our Xabi Alonso!!!!

Been saying it all season Paul. They got us there and therefore deserve the right to try and keep us there. With the obvious exception of course.

Good post by the way WCG. Nice to see the all new, improved, positive attitude.

Beauty of our current position is that NW and The Board can really start working behind the scenes NOW in terms of bringing in new blood. OK I know we're not mathematically up but we're the only club in the division that could make overtures to a new player today and calim to be virtuall up. Even if we have to wait a week or two before promotion's confirmed we'll still have a good head-start on the rest in terms of planning for next season. Blimey, play-off winner won't be known right until end of May; they'll barely have 8 weeks to sort themselves out whereas we'll be several weeks ahead of them! Dream scenario would be Norwich and Leeds coming up with their recent 3rd division background; no way they'll be able to implement the necessary squad improvements in time - they'll be nailed on for a swift return and that'll be two less relegation berths for us to worry about.

Couldn't agree anymore. Two or Three signings would be nice but this team can get a decent finish next season that isn't near the drop zone
                    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

sorry to rain on your parade but this team/squad is 'not' good enough for the premier league....this has been one of the weakest championships for many a year and we are worthy winners due to being the most consistent...but the premier league is light years ahead of the npc in terms of quality within it.....im sorry but the likes of gorrkks/orr/hill/connolly/ramage/aggymang etc will not get a sniff in the pl.....im not saying we cant compeat but look at blackpool and see how hard it is to survive.....are we currently better than them....hand on heart id say no......the premier league is unforgiving for those who enter it unprepared and the joy of getting there soon turns into a harsh real;ity!!

Also been the weakest Premier league ever as well. Forget Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd (but we will beat one of them) but every other team is beatable and have been beaten by the so called lesser teams this season.

it may not be pretty but all we need to do is finish 17th and last nights team with a few tweaks (Danny Graham up top), will be capable of that.

Once again another decent post General. We need a few players here and there to start with. Depends what happens with Routs, Miller & Shittu and personally I would replace all 3 but that's just my opinion. I think we need another RB, LB, CB, Winger, CM and CF. Most as cover but all need to be good solid players. Not necessarily world beaters but decent replacements if called upon.

Wouldn't be a loss if Clarke, Rowlands, Miller, Chimp, Shittu, Rambo, German, Mahon, Hulse, Ephraim, Borrowdale, Rose, Parker, Tofas, Vaan Moen, Agyemang & Leigertwood all went. Routs is still questionable in my book as I'd prefer Sinclair from Swansea.

I reckon NW will sign a couple of players that havn't fulfilled there potential and work his majic on them , convince an old warhorse he has one more season in him , and one dud ,as every manager does
