    PaulMason,

Most of our articles are not direct from players those are. They are fully fledged up journalists who get paid, we don't.

The club for example would choose those channels over any QPR forum, to get the message across.

I just feel by linking to those articles does this site no harm

Once a poster clicks on WATRBs, this site has the hit. Now whether that person stays here for 5 seconds or 5 hours makes no difference as his/her ip address is now registered here as 1 hit.

As already said, when clicking on an external link opens up a new window, therefore not driving traffic away from this site.

More & more sites are disabling copy/paste of their articles. The only way to copy/paste from these sites is via the source code & that would normally mean going in & editing out the code prior to pasting.

Reproducing somebody elses work without their consent, is almost like theft. If they took the time to produce it, then they should receive some form of recognition for it.

Majority of advertising revenue online is calculated via the amount of hits a site receives.

Reproducing someones work and passing it as yours, is called plagiarism and is quite a serious offense but buy including a link to the original content source is acceptable and provides suitable recognition. If it is good enough practice for the BBC, SKY, Reuters etc, etc, it should be good enough for wartb.com.

But providing a link to a third party website or blog that dos not provide any sort of recognition to the original source, is not though, surely you can see that ?

I agree 100% but there is nothing wrong with including the content on here as well, but providing links to other peoples web sites orblogs is pointless and frankly you are having the pee taking out of you.

I dont really care what happens Pete, but it seems pointless starting a thread with a really interesting subject and when you click it, all you see is one line with a link, not knowing where it takes you and yesterday someone said their computer went skatty after clicking a link.

I'd actually like to give my input on this matter and say that Paul gets my backing.

Someone put a link up to watch Adel play for Morrocco and my computer went all stange and ended up taking me elsewhere. These days you can never be sure what you are opening up. I agree genuine links are fine and this wouldn't happen but you can still get caught out. Much easier not having to open up another page that you have to rely on trust IMO.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

That was always going to take you away as it was a video link. Paul is talking about the written articles.

Sorry Jeffro but the thread is talking about 'External' links regardless of whether thats text or audio.

I thought it was more to do about hits and copy right... You miss my point.
If its text then paul simply cuts and pastes the text and then puts a link at the bottom from where the text comes from, no need to click it if you dont want.

If its a video, you cant cut and paste it, hence HAVING to click on the link, to view it.

Pauls argument it that Pete is getting taken for a ride blah blah.

                    quite boring if im honest.

Jeffro, Not an argument at all, I cant see why links need to be added when they are not needed or required, especially when the link takes you to someone else's web site or blog and not the original source, so its not even about copyright and agree its a boring subject.

I think it's pretty decent that Pete allows this, as he says if it's just a cut and paste then the original author gets nothing back for their efforts.

But anyway, it's hardly something worth moaning about is it. Get a grip?

Paul you are lucky I have been busy today or you would of had a couple more 'external' links to click on.

For the record, I agree with Pete. It's hardly any trouble to click on one link and open up another site in a new window, and then close that page down when you have read it.

I also agree with wicksta and jeffro, boring subject tha't really isn't open for/worth a debate.

Nearly as pointless and whiny as your Leeds ticket ********, but now I know the game, I will play the game.
