  • Can we expect anything like what the press are speculating re summer transfers?

    Zhirkov, Doyle, Kranjcar, Wendt...

As far as the rumour mongers go it seems we're already in the top 8/midtable bracket - are they just hedging their bets in case the owners go crazy and splash out or is there something more to it?

Doyle aside they don't really seem like Warnock payers do they? I suppose you wouldn't have said that about Tarbs and Faurlin either though...

Think the press expect us to splash big money in the summer.Of those you mentioned i reckon Kranjcar is probably the only realistsic target.I like him, think he's a good player.

All of those players, without exception, are way, way outside of our range on wage UNLESS the purse strings are loosened considerably. Someone "like" Krancjar is on £50k a week - or £2m a year. No chance, absolutely no chance unless Bernie has Roman like "road to Damascus" moment.

Doyle, Long, Bowyer, Mills etc etc are the realistic names

          Zhirkov :drunk:

Didn't he cost them about 18m a few years ago?

think even doyle will end up out of our range......can see a newcastle/villa etc paying more than us.

A lot of the bigger clubs have had Doyle watched for a good long time. Think the general consensus is that he's as good as he's ever going to be and have held back. Possibly a Newcastle or a Fulham could bid.

                1) we are not promoted yet
                2) do we expect Bernie to be involved / major share holder if we do?
                I dont

I agree with Nodge, i cant see us splashing silly money on fees or wages.
I also believe that apart from the top 5 plus maybe 2 or 3 others the prem isnt that strong and as long as you have a decent squad of 22-25 and a manager who knows what he's doing you have half a chance of staying up. We have a manager who has experienced the prem so he knows the koo and a reasonable squad which if it gets 5 or 6 quality additions is more than capable of holding its own in the top flight.

He's been pretty reliable (despite carrying a heavy load on his own at Wolves) and would continue to be so at any of the top clubs in my humble opinion.

Agree with you lot that these stories are more than a bit far-fetched as it stands anyway... just have to enjoy the silly season I suppose. Would hope some of our fans don't take it as gospel and let it all go to their heads.

Be good for the management team to keep an open mind though even still, can't win a raffle if you don't buy a ticket!

Doyle will end up as a second striker no matter where he ends up....leads the line like a trooper-non stop. As far as a goal getter-he's not a 15-20 man a year. Not many better at what he does-can still see him at a biggish club playing that role. If your looking for a fox in the box....look else-where. If played in the right formation he is a really good player tho.

I still think that a 'big' club will take a punt on Doyle, he may not be a consistent goal scorer, but he doesn't half put in a shift for the team. Theres few strikers in the Prem with a better workrate than him.

Think he is a Kevin Davies/Dirk Kuyt type player. Not gonna get a shed load but will put in a shift and help others score.
