I had a Steve Perkins Panini sticker (mid-late 70's). Don't remember him actually playing.

We should have asked Zelic before he came whether he'd ever played football on grass

I think Wilkins brought in Zelic for a then club record £1.1 million followed closely by Mark Hatley for a million, both for huge flops and were slated by our supporters because that was big money to spend for us ,probably still is!

Yeah remember first time I saw Hateley in a rangers shirt, think it was an away game somewhere where he was sub. He was bought on and the first thing he did was nobble someone and get booked (well I think he got booked was a long time ago now!). Old Carthorse!

                Okay, true story...

I once showed my dad a football card (a head and shoulders pic) of Mark Hateley's dad, Tony Hateley and I asked him if he was any good? I was about six at the time.

My dad said he was "really good in the air but he couldn't use his feet."

For years I thought he was a thalidomide footballer.

Seem to remember him as a long haired, Welsh left back. He appeared on my QPR calender that season along with a load of rubbish that never made an impact at our club. Seem to remember most of the players on that calendar were sold or shifted out by the end of the year.

Marc Nygaard looked pretty weird. Milanese also.

Iain Dowie must be up there

I was there when Brazil scored his only goal for us. v Blackburn in the Littlewoods Cup.

Elsey, I think was sold to Newport County when they were half decent and regular European competitors.

Other obscurities - Tony Simmons, Peter Davison, Kurt Bakholt, Ugo Ukah, Armel Tchakounte and Georgios Tofas

Some good names there Nodge. Think Davison was signed from Berwick for £30,000 and can't remember him starting a game - may have been sub a couple of times? And Kurt Bakholt - one sub appearance was it? I think I have a programme with his name in the line-up somewhere.

                              Struggling to remember Simmons.
