  • We don't want any music thank you after the last game, and/or when we get promoted

For the last few seasons the club donuts in charge of the music after the last game have been absolute p.illocks. The players are doing a lap of honour and we can't hear ourselves cheering or singing because of the stupid loud drowning music. I managed to give Amit a letter about it at our last game last season, but nothing happened. It really p.issed me off.

Has anyone got club connections who can get this sorted out? Do you want their music, or only us making the noise? And I'm not buying the argument that they have to play the music for crowd control. It's our promotion FFS.

It's my overwhelming memory of when we got promoted in '83.

It would be tempting to see this as a case of American piped music monoculture swamping our indigenous sporting traditions. But, while orchestrated entertainment is a hallmark of most mainstream US sports, we shouldn’t assume that every American sporting prototype is bad. According to expat English journalist Steven Wells, Major League Soccer (MLS) ordered a clampdown on piped music last year.

‘MLS sent out a memo telling clubs to turn off the piped music, cut down on the PA chatter, stop the insulting “make some noise” b.ollocks and let the fans generate the atmosphere’, wrote Wells (3). English football could do well to follow the ####s’ lead on this one. As a rule I’m usually against banning stuff at football but, when it comes to piped music, it’s high time we pulled the plug.

Sorry, got to disagree, the right songs for the fans to join in with at top volume made the night against Oldham a lot more special.
15000 of us singing Hi Ho at top volume was amazing -- and Pigbag too.
And "We are the Champions" sung by a full stadium is unbeatable for creating a very special memory, even 28 year later.

Greengrass has a decent point to be fair.

It has to be organised properly, 1 or 2 fitting songs yea but I don't fancy having my ear drums pierced when we are all celebrating & having a sing song.

Well the point i'm making is, ok, fine, let's have some anthems going, but at least give us a few minutes quiet without music, to just hear ourselves applaud our team in our own way.

All our own songs and ditties won't be heard, and that's a disgrace, that's what I'm getting at.
