So Sousa got the boot rightly or wrongly and the general concencus was that we needed a British manager who was succesful and knew the CCC.
Now for a start, any manager who is any good either gets there team promoted or gets snapped up by a Prem club so they are not going to drop down.
Secondly, everyone wants someone who knows the CCC inside out. Well the likes of Magilton, Pardew etc etc have played/managed in the league for years so they know all about it. We all changed our mind on that one aswell.
Thirdly we wanted British. Now we have gone through every British option and either dont like 'the style of football they play' or 'there record' managing in most cases much poorer side.
So now we are back having done the full circle on De Canio. De Canio did very well in that spell from about November till roughly February which obviously coincided with the take over hipe and the purchase of rumored to be £6million worth of players. I notice the football we played in a few games overshadows the dross that was on show at some points. Also id love to know the last time a manager returned to a club he was previously 'successfull' with and repeated that form, I cant think of many.
Personally, I feel the answer lies less with the manager then we think. I believe had Dowie or Sousa been in charge for a full season we would have finished alot higher then we did. But with the high profile owners and at times demanding fans the pressure is on the 'management' after only a few bad results or performances.
It seems that Flavio wants to build a more united 'management team' which is what i suppose we had under De Canio. This being where everyone in that little set up gets along and works together. We all know that the manger (oh sorry i ment coach) is not going to be able to bring in the players he wants so we need someone who is going to work with the buyer of players (sorry i cant remember the proper job title) and unfortunatly this has never been the way British football has worked. Alot of people always say that it works very well on the continent, well please give me one example. If you are even thinking about Real Madrid, please remember that we are not buying the likes of Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo and Beckham here.
Anyway, thats enough for the moment but please leave your comments and we can start what might be a intellectual debate.
