  • Barnsley - 6'000 R's travelling up the M1

Well maybe not 6k, I know it's been posted before.......however; realistically how many are we going to take to Barnsley ?

Their average crowd this season is 12'000 and for their last 3 x home/midweek games they've only had about 10'000 - if we took a few thousand or better it could be like a home game (but with a better atmosphere).

It's the school holidays, so no worries there for any parents amongst you and it's a pivotal game where should we secure any points then we'll be in touching distance of automatic promotion.

If we can take 7k to a Man U 'Reserves' midweek cup tie, surely we can do something similar for our big promotion push ??????????????

    Come on you R's :yush:

With 2,000 travelling a similar distance to Doncaster on a Saturday afternoon I would guess that is about as good as it gets unless a selection of glory hunters join us for on the basis of a nailed on promotion securing trip?

If QPR can be promoted that evening, I bet there will be 6,000+ QPR fans their. I wonder how many of them will be from the 4,500 that went to Coventry the day we were officially relegated. I was in Coventry and will be in Barnsley if promotion can be achieved.

I'd guess something similar to the Reading turnout, a pretty decent crowd.

But if you are not driving, how do you get back to London?! No trains/coaches till the morning. Anyone fancy sharing a cab?! ;)

If QPR need to win to get promoted to the premier league, the ony reason there will be 2-3,000, is if Sky show the game live.

I have been part of some massive traveling QPR support for evening games like Liverpool in the milk cup semi final where 8,000ish went, Villa in the cup 4,000ish and then Man U in the cup where 7,500ish went. QPR fans know how to follow their team and I would suggest the return to the premier league is a bigger prize than the three examples I used.

Surely by even Sky's inconsiderate standards would be far too late in the day to move this game now?

I am sure that they announce ahead of time the games where they changing the date of the match or the kick off time. Last year, it seemed that every Newcastle game was shown on sky and not always announced weeks in advance, as the date or time of the match, was not changing.

                        Paul,

Agree, I was at all the games you mentioned - we can travel in vast numbers at times, surely it would be rude not to take up Barnsleys very kind and generous offer of 6'000 seats !!!!

Travel will be the same as the Man U game or the Milk Cup semi in 86 - travel up by car or coach, didn't stop us then.

If we drum up enough enthusiam on messageboards then it'll get more R's interested, lets face it - 'talk of a large gate always attract larger numbers'

                        Glory hunters are welcome !!!!!!!

If we win and get promoted, imagine the pub crawl after as they have 3 nightclubs and 36 pubs all within 5 minutes of each other.
