          Ridiculous case really.

6 men have CONSENTUAL sex with 2 girls who claim to be 16 and even have fake Facebook profiles saying they are 16.

What are the men supposed to do? Ask to see their passports ffs?

            Reading is a ---- hole
            Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
            And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Shocking story and I hope parents in general realise that problems can happen in the future, when they allow their children to lie about their ages, so they can join the 'face book' revolution, as you cant sign up until you are 12. I bet the parents of those girls are right pleased of their decision to allow them to lie and portray themselves as being 4 years older than they are now.

8, 9 or 10 year old's on face book, playing Call of duty or other video games rated 18 and watching music channels like MTV showing inappropriate video content, just ain't right in my book, but parents allow it for the quiet life.

              Rant over.

                  Here here.
Face Book, Call of Duty, numerous music channels, all banned in our house - kids of 8 years old wanting mobile phones, tv's and computers in their rooms gets short shrift from me too.
We even banned the kids from watching Eastenders because they started to believe it was a true portrayal of life = acceptable for kids to treat their peers with zero respect, for adults to act the way they do on a daily basis on there and the like.
100% massive improvement in their overall attitude and behaviour in the last 12 months since we stopped them from watching it.

                      On the flip side;

My daughter at 10 years old was given a scholarship for a science college meant for GCSE students due to her outstanding grades at school, she is head girl in her school & has exceeded all expectations of a 10 year old (head mistresses words). I have in all her life had to raise my voice at her no more than a hand full of times, never an ounce of trouble & is an absolute credit to her mother & myself.

My 6 year old daughter according to her teacher has reading & literature ability 'way beyond the national average' he said her ability to read near on anything put in front of her was 'amazing' & that she can decipher words expected of 9 year olds. She sets up the computer for her school assembly every week, she comes home & asks to go on the laptop & 9 times out of 10 goes on Wikipedia to read about planets, science & things like that. Its quite strange yet refreshing to see.

My son who is 4 is just a playful little fella with a sweet left foot

I'm not starting a my d!ck is bigger than your d!ck contest but simply making the point all children are unique. My kids have always watched eastenders as long as their mother is watching it & have all had tv's dvd's in their room's since they were about 4-5 years old. My eldest has not got a facebook or a phone.

As far as I'm concerned it is all down to the parenting, monkey see monkey do. If I was a fag puffing unemployed scabby layabout I'd put my house on it my kids would probably follow suit but I'm not so they only see positive things.

These Reading fella's are rightly locked up, if someone can't tell a 12 year old CHILD from a 16 year old make up or not then I would say you are not very clued up.

                      Personal opinion only.

Sounds like you have some exceptional children there Ric and credit goes to the parents to some extent.
I have 4 of the little angels all of whom have attributes and personal down sides. Even the most angelic of children can turn sour - I can think of plenty of people I went to Uni with that were more gifted than I and also came from far more advantageous backgrounds - some are up the creek without a paddle, some have found life has kicked them in the teeth and some are no longer even here to tell their stories.
What that tells me is there's always a nightmare hiding round the corner and if it's hiding on a left turn you just have to hope they turn right!! God willing.

I know my children are always taught right from wrong, they have good manners and are all pretty bright. They come from a stable family background where both parents are on the scene, they have grandparents on both sides and there is no example of broken marriage, anti-social family behaviour or any other negative and they are experiencing a pretty priveledged lifestyle. But, in general, children are inquisitive and impressionable so if they see things they are attracted to they tend to copy - and I think that's true if it's the parents (smoking, drinking, swearing, fighting etc) or some so called role model on a soap opera.

I'm not knocking you whatsoever and it is really refreshing to hear of children that break the mould, but honestly to say it is ALL down to the parenting is a somewhat moot point unless of course they spend 100% of their time in the parents company. Accepted, parental influence must be a major factor but generally there is an awful lot more influence around than that.

Just like you, personal opinion only of course.

Thanx mate for the compliments, much appreciated.

Great post bluehoop and totally agree.

As you say all we can possibly do as decent parents is give them the best start in life as possible, a kid from a let's say 'rough' upbringing is I would think gonna be harder to turn around than a child from a not so bad upbringing.

We all know people who came from sh!tty households who have gone onto big things, a mate of mine used to sleep on a bus when he was young & do bits of thieving to get by he now lives in a £1.5m house in Radlett & still can't read & write yet he used his better qualities to his advantage.

Its right what you say though we have to just HOPE our kids make the better choices when they get older. But it helps knowing you done your very best for them & you could do no more.

                            Very interesting debate.

All very true - just keep doing what your doing as it seems you're getting it right
As for the bit in bold, I think the only bit I've done that isn't necessarily for the best so far is they are all proper dyed in the wool Rangers fans who sulk just as much as me when we don't win
