I don't think Caroll's crap, infact he could be the real deal.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

        I think not !
Maybe Nodge can answer this re Carroll. Was told that Liverpool had to spend what they could out of the Torres cash so as to avoid a big tax bill. Sounds plausible but I am not an accountant. Would explain the £35m fee plus the Torres deal was done quite late IIRC

Andy Carroll will be a top quality player. Has all the attributes required. Pace, power, technique, vision - has a left foot hammer and can head the ball superbly. Just needs work on the disciplinary side of his game and someone to keep him on the straight and narrow outside. Could be the next Drogba, could be the next Duncan Ferguson. All in his head.

His fee was so high simply because there was a bidding war going on between Liverpool and Spurs on the last two days of the transfer window and Newcastle knew the Torres deal was imminent. Spurs opted out once it went past £25m at which point another club (don't know who but I'd guess at Man City) came and drove Liverpool to £35m. Liverpool's total outlay on Suarez and Carroll was only £2m more than they sold Torres for. Great work by Comolli and Dalglish.

Watched Pool get kicked out of the euopa cup on the box and seeing that Carol play I was thinking that if pool had someone like Tarbs they would be in the next round.

An improved 2 year extension makes perfect sense for everyone.

                    1) more money for tarbs - recognition of his performances
                    2) great for for the club, showing Intent and get better eventual fee
                    3) feel good factor for the fans
