which will be a four year contract and the sell on clause will be fifteen million pound, but if he does really well i expect qpr to offer him another contract worth two million a season, with the sell on clause being 25 million, but that is at the moment only conjecture ,but the one million pound is a deffo
I was getting myself in such a muddle and I didn't know if I was coming or going before reading this very insightful post, thanks Dext mate.//////////
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I'm impressed he was able to use a word like 'conjecture' in a sentence!

Yeah I think all his poetry is making him more confident with the use of words.

He is the only poster I know, that I feel like I need to speed up when I get to 1 of his comma's.

Would assume any offer in the PL would be higher. £1m per season is "only" £20k a week and once the taxman has taken his chunk would be a net of around £11k. If I was his agent, I'd certainly be seeking a bit more!

I'd expect a far more flexible deal with a lower "wage" - increase in image rights (lower tax exposure), a nice signing on fee, plus some bonus payments on loyalty, appearances, goals, international recognition etc etc.

Remember Spurs are entitled to the biggest sell on percentage I can ever recall (think it was 25% but don't hold me to that) in the event of us making a profit on the original deal.

I must have missed that at the time. Do you know what that really annoys me - Spurs didn't want to keep him and H was never going to play him (unless you can tell me different) so why on earth do they get into him for such a chunk when his current and future value is all about what the player has done under the managership of Neil Warnock and not Harry Redknapp and his youth/reserve team coaches?

bluehoop your speaking to the wrong person if you want to slate spurs, nodge has to be very careful on that front.

                  yes

yes but his projected value in four years time will be 30 -80 million so you must remember that eventually he is going to real madrid i expect him to be named european footballer of the year ,all qpr fans know we cant keep him,but if we can keep him for four years he could score one hundred goals, and when he goes we should have a team that is still capable of finishing in the top five

I'm not asking him to slate them - in fact the answer has to be that H is a genius for getting such a cut of future sales for a player he didn't want to nurture - I guess he can suggest that he knew Warnock was the right man for the job - and as is the case in most business deals it's not what you know but who you know that counts.

                      Not quite true Bluehoop.

Adel was coming into the last year of his deal at Spurs and had said he didn't want to sign a new one which, I believe, was going to be offered on the same terms.

He was one of those players that no-one could ever get a handle on and were just never quite sure about. Talent was there but other aspects of his game were missing. Spurs still spent a lot on his development, not to mention his original fee in coming over.

Sell on fees are pretty standard. Hayes got £600k out of us when Les went to Newcastle on top of the transfer fee paid, you can argue that their contribution to his development into an England international after we signed him was negligble. That extra £600k would have got us Kasey Keller and Alex Rae instead of Jurgen Sommer and Simon Osborn, but a deal is a deal!

Thanks Nodge - that's all very reasonable and I guess falls into the potentially and gamble category from earlier

Bar any unfortunate long term injurys this is a great idea to extend his contract..

Means we will be in a much more comfortable position should we start getting big bids for him.. IF he adapts to the prem that is..

Although its great news he may be about to sign a new deal contracts mean little in modern day football. Main thing I would want as part of the contract would be a HUGE buy out clause
