That chart is flawed... it's not taking into account that teams have to play each other eg Swansea have to play Norwich so they y can't both take 24pts from last 8 games.

Surely the chart covers both scenarios, sure your not just being pedantic?

agreed, the chart is a projection, and it shows the maximum possible points for each team.

Jeez - it ain't hard to see.... chart's just adding 24pts to existing tallies and calling it the max possible. But it's clearly impossible for Norwich and Swansea BOTH to get another 24 pts

I think you are struggling to get your head around the purpose of the chart.

As it stands we need another 14 points to guarantee promotion which makes 90. We just need to watch Swansea's results. For every point they drop our goal is one point less. So if they lose to Norwich we will only need 11, etc
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

of course it's impossible. just like it's impossible for the other 22 clubs to all get maximum points too. the value is there as a guideline as to what the teams, individually can achieve.

the important part of the table is on the right hand side, the Projected points total, which is what the OP was referring to.

Dropping to 13th would be somewhat disappointing.

                      True!

But I've spent so many seasons hoping to get as high as 21st. It's been a good few years since 13th was disappointing!!
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

                      2015/2016, average at best.....

                      2016/2017, same old, same old....

                      2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

You're right but factoring in scenarios for Norwich/Swansea game:

Norwich beat Swansea: That means Swans max wil be 87.
Swansea beat Norwich: That means Norwich max will be 88.
They draw: That means Swans max will be 88 and Norwich's 89.

So, today, mathematically we need 13 pts to guarantee promotion.

Swansea have a hard run in,probably the hardest of the serious promotion contenders. And their away form is suspect so can't see them doing better than playoffs.

Would have picked Forest as automatics a month ago but they are struggling.

Fancy Norwich for auto's at the moment.
