and there is a lot of you as well

Quite surprised to hear Al Fayad has underwritten a debt of £224 million to date, just goes to show not much is achieved from tourist fans and cheap ST's in the PL.

Blackpool and Burnley is the model I think we we will follow next season, where players will get paid well while we are in the Premiership, but if relegated, they will not keep their monopoly contracts. Like Burnley, we will probably make money in the premier league and not be relegated with massive debts which makes perfect business sense.

Good spot General, a myth that many believe Fulham are this successful footballing Economy, when in truth, the only side on the ULK and probably the world is Arsenal who make a proift.

Jeffro, Burnley is not a myth, it is indeed a fact, so you can add them to Arsenal and expect to see something similar from Blackpool from this year as well.

Burnley have reported making record pre-tax profits of £14.4m for the 2009-10 season. The accounts reflect a huge increase in revenue, particularly from television rights, during the Clarets' single year in the Premier League. The previous season Burnley made a loss of £11.7m playing in the Championship. Burnley chairman Barry Kilby told the club website: "The profit has been used to good effect to correct the losses incurred over previous years." Supporters are likely to press for part of the profit to be invested in new players during the January transfer window to boost the club's attempt to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

I spat my coffee over the screen when I see this and it is what I have been saying for a long time.

Unless our owners are prepared to underwrite the cost of building a ground or assembling a team of highly paid players then there is really no point in discussing it. I don't want to see my club bankrupted.

Ok Paul, i meant make a profit and remain successful in the top league. Burnley got relegated, im sure we all want a happy medium with minimal debt but more so retaining outr premiership status.

They make a profit, it is known widely, in a year or so they will own their ground and when the new ruling comes in regarding spending within your means (did you know this was coming into football soon?) Arsenal will be in a prime position.

Invest in youth bring players through and sell at a profit. Same with bringing players through from lower leagues....its the Rangers way really.

Jeffro, We will not be paying silly money for players on stupid contracts that last if relegated, so expect QPR FC to do the exact same thing and become a yoyo, albeit a self sufficient yoyo, with a good balance sheet that allows us to attract the top end of championship players, that will hopefully over achieve in the premier league that give us some traction like Stoke did, allowing us to add strength each season.

Stoke is a good model to follow, minimal debt, a ground perfect for their support and decent hard working players with the odd flair one.

Thanks! No, I wasn´t aware of the new rule. But like the rest of you I have noticed the fact that Arsenal seem to spend wizely compared to City,Chelsea etc. etc.

I wonder how this will affect us really. But if clubs, and fotball in generalwants to survive, this is the only way forward. A cliche, but anyway, lol.

Minimal debt by running the club properly, growing stronger year on year. The trick is to survive the first year while banking a healthy profit, do that and you are away, it looked like Blackpool had mastered the art but they look like they have run out of steam, but I bet they make a massive profit.

I don't think anyone has cited Fulham as an economic example but one on how to model and grow your fanbase.
