As you say, Faurlin has never neen ineligible to play, so points should not be docked. A fine of £50K would be more appropriate.

Still, this is the FA we are talking about, with a panel to judge the club and how many times have we seen one player get let off a red card by one panel, whilst another gets an extra game ban by a different panel, for an almost identical challenge.

And look at the recent cop out by them over the Rooney incident. Ben Thatcher was retrospectively punished even though the ref had already ruled on the challenge during the game.

In other words consistency, justice and the FA don't really go together.
    Exactly, spot on.

Agree. Its why I don't put any store by these people quoting anonymous sources within the club along the lines of "a points deduction isn't even on the agenda". Unless they are intimate friends with all the members of the FA panel, how could they possibly know? They are, probably for the best of motives, spouting a line, a line fans want to believe.

I consider myself reasonably clued up and know a certain amount about the law but I wouldn't claim to understand the precise details of this case - and assuming no one on this board has had personal access to Faurlin's contract of employment, the contract with the alleged agent/owners etc I would say every single one of us is in the same position of absolute ignorance. This is, in the words of the dreadful Donald Rumsfeld, a "known unknown".
