How did they managed to get the bottles of beer past the stewards in the first place?

The rule I find ridiculous is the plastic bottle tops?

Try throwing it, won't go nowhere.

A bottle will find its destination if thrown correctly

Most of the stewards down at Rangers don't speak English anyway, so doubt they'd be able to tell the Palace fans they couldn't bring their beer to the stand!

They're very quick to tell the X block tourists that they can't have their beer in the stands.
Can't understand why they didn't do the same in the school end.

We could be in trouble over this, if the stewards have allowed alcohol to be taken within view of the pitch -- that's down to us.

Its quite a sensible rule really, try throwing a bottle half full of liquid without a bottle top then do the same with a top screwed on, the one with the top screwed on is a much more effective missile

'Bottle Top Rule' is ridiculouus. I just put the top in my pocket as I go pass the stewards.

Bottle top rule is a safety thing as, in case of an evacuation, bottles without lids with crush underfoot more easily that those with lids on, which won't crush, and could cause someone to fall.
                        That's the actual reason.
Although Josie always takes her own lids with her...
