  • Bad Day At The Office

Yes, we were poor, but this is a marathon not a sprint.

On friday we were 5 points clear, we are now 7.

Win our home games and we will be in the premiership, its that simple.

Reality check for the players and may just give them the kick up the backside they need.

On a defensice note, not sure Gorkkss/Shittu partnership works.

dont think anyones worried about the result or performance pete.
a mere blip, every team loses and going to millwall (and leeds) is like going to barca in terms of difficulty to win (not in footballing terms mind).
their fans are so intimidating, and the players feel it as well, im certain of that.
its a defeat i and im sure a lot of others expected, and it was one of only four all season.
no problem whatsoever, the league is still ours to win.

Yes what worried me is our defensive problem with $hittu and Hall out.

Totally agree about marathon and not a sprint. It's one game. But surely the same principle applies when you then say gorkss/shittu doesn't work.

No need to be negative. We have another game on sat and a more points to be had. Only 10 games left, 7 clear all the others wish they were in our position. Let's be positive and enjoy it.

Yep, it's a marathon alright, but somtimes the medalists have to put on a little burst of pace to get over the line. What they can't afford to do is walk or stumble down the home straight.

That said, 7 points is a healthy lead. 5 wins & 3 draws from the last 10 games will see us home, possibly with the Gold medal.
Less may do it, especially with an in form Burnley having to play all the other 5 between us and them.
But I really don't want to be needing 6 or more points from our last 4 games if I'm honest.

And let's give Big Dan a break here, 3 great performances in 3 wins and 3 clean sheets (when he looked a threat up front also).
OK, so he fell to earth with a bang last night, but Millwall would have known all about his strengths and weeknesses, certainly more than most.
He's got a week off and it won't coincide with any 2 games, Derry may miss.

After all, offer any Championship club Shittu, Hall, Gorkks, Connolly and Hill as Central Defensive cover and they will snatch your hand off.

It's simple - Our defence should be Shittu/Hall or Hill/Gorkks - Connolly seems to be really struggling at the minute and I feel needs some time on the reserves to rebuild his confidence back up!

Will be business as usual Saturday. Last night's barely dented our lead at top but it'll be useful "wake up call" not to get complacent or prematurely crack out the bubbly.
If you'd have asked me to predict 5 away defeats at start of season I'd have picked:
                  Sheff Utd
                  Burnley
                  Forest
                  Leeds
                  Millwall
So in we're ahead of my curve and I'm happy.

Fair do's. Thing is with Boro is that since we beat them at Ayresome Park in FA cup replay in '82 I have illogically regarded them as a push-over.
To be honest, I'd forgotten how tipped they were back in August after signing all those Scots players. With hindsight it would seem the pundits caught a bad dose of premature ejockulation with Boro.......

It's also worth noting, millwalls forthcoming home games with bardiff, Leeds & the swans. Don't think they'll be looking forward to a visit to the den! Let's just write off last night, and start again on Saturday. Come on you R's
