  • Danny Shittu........oh dear

Many on this board like Jeffro thought he was the saviour. Last night was his first game against a forward who had clever movement. Morison was finding holes all over the place. Vassell and Yakubu were very static on Sat and Middlesbrough were dreadful. But last night showed why Shittu hasn't cut it in the Prem. Any forward with a bit of nouse will find gaps to exploit when being marked by him. Hejust doesn't have a football brain. Give him long balls and he'll be fine but find the gaps and he struggles. It was a performance very typical of watching Damion Stewart. He woule be brilliant one minute and dog sh1t the next. 2nd half last night he was absymal.

Makes me laugh that Connolly got slated on Sat for allowing the ball to bounce 2 or 3 times on Sat (very rare as he has been part of the best defence in the land) and he gets slated. Well on each occasion he did jys enough to put Waghorn off from scoring. Last night was just 2 long balls and his positioning was shocking. First one he shoudl have called for it and then cleared it. Both he and Gorks just left it for each other. Their line was too high. But the last goal was just comical. Shittu was so high up the pitch and a bog standard 60 yard punt up field saw him in no man's land on the wrong side of the man and he brought Morison down for the pen and was quite rightly sent off.

I like Shittu and hopefully he can get us over the line. However, he is not a long term answer. He has many flaws. But most important he doesn't have a football brain and gets away with a lot because of his strength, buty my god last night had Gorks or Connolly made such a mistake they would have been slaughtered on here, but as per usual people watch Rangers with their rose tinted glasses.

Hopefully Gorks and Connolly back on Sat. The tried and trusted centre back pair who have been the best in the land out of all 92 professional teams.

Funnily enough, I agree with you about Shittu's performance last night. He was indeed dreadful. He deserved to get sent off, his distribution was poor, and he couldn't deal with the pace and movement.

But he did well against some good strikers in the last three games, so let's give him some praise, shall we?

He also probably couldn't deal with 19-odd thousands Millwall fans yelling abuse at him, and the pressure got to him.

Now, we HAVE to play Gorkss and Connolly - so let's hoping that they play well together. Connolly looked awful on Saturday, and Gorkss didn't exactly look all that against Millwall, either. Having said that, he was better than Shittu...

      I'll keep it brief

      1) Warnock has publicly said the first goal was down to a mistake my Clint Hill

      2) Yakubu was static?? I don't think so, he had plenty of chances luckily for us he didn't take them.

      3) Connolly 'did enough to put Waghorn off' erm no! Waghorn by admission from his own fans has a habit of rushing shots & for that reason only he didn't score twice due to Connolly mistakes.

      4) The whole team was sh!t last night, an off day not a Danny Shittu off day exclusively.

Btw I like Connolly, very good player but please don't sugar coat his embarrassing cameo on Saturday. Let's just hope he's up for it this weekend yea & he's done a bit on the training ground with regards to letting the ball bounce in front of him.

Big difference. MC has played 30 odd games this season and came on as a sub in a high pressured game. Always very hard coming on as a centre half in such a game. Any other position you can get a feel for the ball and build your confidnece up. If you start a game you always feel mentally right. If Gorks and Connolly start on Sat they will be absolutely fine. You can count on one hand the amount of bad games that MC has had for us. Still our best all round defender at the club without a shadow of a doubt.

          I was there last night.

First goal was a long ball over the top and Gorks and Shittu left it for each other when really Shittu should have taken over and just cleared his lines. Hill gave the ball away for the 2nd goal down the other end and that led to the long ball which Shittu totally misjudged.

Yak was static generally on Sat. Waghorn didn't score. Whole team was not rubbish yesterday. Thought Derry had a good game. Faurlin was generally good. Helguson worked his nuts off despite not getting many chances. Orr was ok.

Ok you obviously know more than Neil Warnock.

That's fine we'll leave it there. Personally I'm happy to go with what NW thinks best as he's probably a little more experienced in this kind of thing than you & I.

It's one dfeat lads lets not fall out over it. All our players have been magnificent this season and last night ( i was there ) was a bad day at the office. Other results weren't to bad we are one game closer. Lets move on and concentrate on beating Palace.

Kaspars I'd never fall out over a game mate. Dave is a lovely fella known him years actually & only realised who he was the other day. I have had some good times with him.

Sometimes just don't agree with all the sniping at Shittu, I'm happy we have 4 very capable CB's (when fit!!)

Its all good we were due 1 bad game & let's just get back to business on Saturday.

Come on, Dave. Fan was blinding in the 1st half, as well as the three game run in, up to last night. Don't try using a night when the whole team were poor, to try and shoot the one player.

I said all along Shittu is not the sort of signing we should be looking for, especially to start. Too much nostalgia and sentimentalism here.

However, we are still top, so I can't question NW who knows a lot more than me.

But last night just wasn't our night and that was not down to one man.
