  • Owners trying to destabilise the club?

What on earth are our current owners trying to do? The club are sat at the top of the league, promotion looking a distinct possibility and our owners release a story that they might be selling up!!! Madness

This to me supports my long held theory that our current owners have never wanted promotion. I'm not sure what they are up to but fear it is no good. Any dodgy dealings that go on are well hidden in the relative obscurity of the Championship, this would not be the case if promoted where most deals/transfers/payments are scrutinised thoroughly.

From a selling point of view would you get more money for a club that have been promoted or one that potentially will be? Why not wait?

Also if the club get promoted the financial rewards are amazing so why go through all of the grief of updating the ground, hiring-firing of managers, pay outs to players, the C Club if you are not around when the glory days occur.

All seems very bizarre to me.

I think Warnock was appointed to keep the baying fans off their backs, lets not forget around that time there was nearly a fan revolt, and he has by far and away exceeded any expectations. Now they are panicking it will really happen and suddenly they want out.

It is a bit odd to announce this now, I am sure they could have got away with saying nothing at the moment. I can't think why they wouldn't want us to go up though, it just doesn't make any sense at all. I disagree with you i'm afraid!

I don't think they are doing anything of the kind.... It looks like its Bernie that may be willing to sell his shares and if that is the case then I'm not surprised we are hearing about it now at all...

Bernie is a shrewd businessman who has never been anything but honest with us that he has no interest in football at all... He went along with the enthusiasm of Briatore to buy a football club and no doubt the convincing argument that he could make a nice profit on selling the ground if it all went wrong.. Don't forget the amount he has paid out so far is absolutely NOTHING to him.. He’s had a bit of fun along the way but that's it as far as his interest goes...

QPR at the moment are worth two widely different amounts...

If we don't go up we have a club that is losing over £10m a year so someone will have to be willing to keep putting their hand in their pocket to bail us out without any guarantee that they will ever get their money back..

If we do go up the revenues coming into the club will rise but so will the amounts of investment to survive in the premier league for any amount of time...

As our fortunes on the pitch have improved this season so has the interest and i would imagine that the value of the club is a great deal higher now than it was when Bernie and his buddies came in...

If Bernie was to wait until the end of the end of the season and we did get promoted the club would be a very attractive proposition and its value would be at its maximum, but if we don't that value could well plummet....

So the way i see it is that Bernie is simply cashing in his chips now while he can still make a profit and the potential buyer is taking a gamble that we are going to get promoted and is willing to pay more than we are worth at the moment...
        We got our Ranger's back!

To suggest they don't want us to get promoted is one of the most ridiculous things i've ever heard.

As for your conspiracy theory that they can cover up shady deals and goings on in the championship but won't be able to in the Prem is slanderous. If that was the case why would they have funded any decent player singings, rather than keep mediocrity which which would've sustained the Championship level, you think they want....

I think you need to look at this differently.

If they intended on selling their shares, their stock will be worth far more if the club is in the prem...obviously. That said, they want to go up, and "hopefully" we may go up this year, but what's to say we will be able to stay in the prem...? That is another lottery altogether, especially if they don't have ideas to fund major squad changes.

If that's the case, it makes perfect sense to negotiate now on the assumption (and i'm sure financially related) that we get promoted. They would then have the Prem journey infront of them and could do what they see fit, hopefully by funding a real go at it... Negotiations won't happen overnight and we are in March already. They could thrash out the details and terms over the next month or so and then the trigger / deal breaker could be promotion.

If they did want out but didn't do it now, instead taking the glory as you say, how interested would parties be if in a years time we're bottom of the prem and looking like certs for relegation and nothing but doom and gloom and a dark cloud over the club again...... far less of a proposition.

            Au contraire,
Despite hemoraging millions, our stock is rising the closer we get to the promised land. £60m for Promotion and another £30 beyond that if it all goes pear shaped with immediate relegation.
If they wait until the Summer, they risk us struggling for survival, or worse still not going up, in which case our price will plummet.

I suspect they wanted to open talks on the quiet but another leak to the press who broke it and thus to avoid destabilising our season, they've confirmed that we are open to talks. Or at least Bernie is.

So probably the right thing to do and allows NW to focus on performances on the pitch and not have to worry or field questions about off the pitch.

I believe Bernie has been quoted some time ago that he's not interested in promotion and that he got involved in QPR "by accident" or words to that effect.

Do we really want a Director with such a lack of ambition? Good riddance I say.

Do you think any buyer would not have a clause in the contract concerning price if promoted or price if not?

This information was deliberately leaked with good reason. It won't destabilise anything.

The new owners want to be in charge of the club the day it is promoted as they have a blank canvas to work with. There is an immense amount of work that needs doing around the club before we are ready to enter the Prem, not least with the ground.

If they wait a few months, Bernie & Flav will need to put up more money and carry running the club their way.

If the new owners are installed early, Neil can go to them with his transfer requests and have the summer to work on it.

If Bernie & Flav are working on a buyout they are hardly going to be rushing to back Neil in the Market.

The OP believing they're trying to hide dodgy deals needs to lay off he Inspector Clouseau for a while.

Under stock exchange rules any takeover/sale has to be announced publicly. Also everyone has moaned repeatadley that our board don't keep us informed about what's going on and when they do most give them pelters-unbelievable. I see the "potential" (that's all it is at this stage) sale as a massive positive and will the club the much needed cash injection when we get promoted.

This is possibly the best news the club has ever had!

Now then let's raise the roof this afternoon, outsing the Foxes fans and get behind the team!

Have you ever wondered why most of our team come from the same agency? Or why certain players regularly come and go from the club. Routledge/Cook/Shittu etc etc
